When Inspecting The Property, Apartment Owner Was Surprised To Find The Space Filled With Chickens. The Chicken Coop Caused A Great Loss To The Owner
When renting out his apartment, the owner never imagined that months later he would find the property turned into a real chicken coop. As it is a very curious case, it gained a lot of attention on social media.
The owner of an apartment in Shanghai, China, had an unpleasant surprise when he discovered that the property, rented for two years, had been converted into a chicken coop. As expected, the property suffered severe damage, requiring repairs.
The Tenant Was Reliable
The owner, who did not have his name revealed by the Chinese media, trusted the tenant and received the rent regularly, without delays. Since everything was in order, during this period, he did not check the condition of the apartment.

A country suffocated by severe drought, persistent extreme heat, and the accelerated advance of desertification is betting on an environmental megaproject and planting 10 billion trees to recover devastated forests, regenerate ecosystems, generate large-scale green jobs, and try to reverse one of the planet’s most intense climate crises.
However, neighbors began to notice strange noises and an unpleasant odor coming from his rented apartment. Alerted about the situation, he decided to visit the property last month and found an unexpected scene: chickens were freely roaming around the space.
In an interview, the apartment owner expressed his indignation. “It stinks. Both the floor and the wall are very damaged. It needs a renovation and should be completely decorated, otherwise, no one can live there“, he said.
It is believed that the damages are so significant that the rent received does not cover the costs necessary to restore the property.
Building Residents Also Complained
The situation also affected the building residents. A neighbor identified by the surname Wu reported that, along with other residents, she made several complaints to the management about the strong smell coming from the apartment.
According to Wu, the tenant only responded by closing the windows, which did not solve the problem. Meanwhile, the internal damage to the floor and walls continued to worsen.
Indignant, the owner expressed that he had invested time and money in decorating the apartment before renting it out. “I am very sad that the house I worked so hard to decorate has been left in ruins the first time I rented it out“, he lamented.
In light of the damage, he sought the authorities and filed a complaint with the police. The next step will be to analyze whether there is a possibility to take legal action against the tenant.
In theory, the tenant can be sued for material damages and be required to pay compensation to the property owner. However, there is no guarantee that the owner will be able to recover the financial losses.
The case generated significant online repercussions, leading the apartment owner to seek advice from internet users on how to deal with the situation. Although the fate of the property remains uncertain, it will need to undergo renovation before being habitable again.
