Federal Institute Is Accepting Applications for Free Beginner-Level English and Spanish Courses. Classes, Starting in April, Will Be Held in a Hybrid Format, Combining In-Person Meetings and Online Activities.
The Federal Institute of Acre (Ifac), through the Rio Branco Campus, has launched Public Notice No. 02/2025 to select candidates interested in Initial and Continuing Education (FIC) courses in the English Language and Spanish Language, both at the beginner level.
Classes are scheduled to begin in April 2025 and will be taught in a hybrid format, combining in-person meetings and online activities. This approach aims to serve students, institution staff, and members of the external community.
Slots and Target Audience

In total, 50 slots are offered, with 25 for each course. These slots are equally distributed among three categories:
- Ifac Staff: 8 slots
- Ifac Students: 8 slots
- External Community: 9 slots
Should there be any remaining slots, they will be redistributed primarily to the external community, followed by students and, lastly, Ifac staff.
Eligibility Requirements
To apply, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum Age: 14 years old
- Education: Must have completed at least the 8th grade, even if not fully completed
These requirements ensure that participants have an adequate educational base to follow the course content.
Applications: How and When
Applications are free and may be submitted until February 7, 2025. There are two available modalities:
- Online: By filling out the electronic form available in the links provided in the public notice.
- In Person: In the language room of the Rio Branco Campus, on January 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, and 29, from 8 am to 11:30 am, and on January 20 and 27, from 2 pm to 5 pm.
It is important for candidates to be attentive to dates and times to ensure their application is submitted within the established deadline.
Selection Process: Electronic Draw
The selection of candidates will be conducted through an electronic draw, using the platform sorteador.com.br, on February 14, 2025, at 8:30 am.
The preliminary result will be announced on February 17, and the final result is expected on February 20.
Enrollment for those approved will take place between February 24 and March 21. Each class must have at least 15 enrolled students for the course to be held.
Course Load and Certification
Each course has an annual load of 160 hours, distributed over 4 hours per week. Classes are scheduled to take place on Tuesdays from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
Upon completion of the course, students who meet attendance and academic performance requirements will receive a certificate of completion, which could be a differentiator in the job market or future academic opportunities.
