Slots Available for All Regions of Brazil
Applications for the Territories of Writing Course are open until November 30, 2024.
With 1,000 slots distributed throughout the national territory, the selection will be made for 50 groups of 20 students, allowing for a geographic and social diversity, as the course offers quotas for black, indigenous, and people with disabilities (PCD), in addition to extra points for candidates from the North, Midwest, and Northeast regions.
According to the notice, the selection for the slots will be rigorous, based on responses to the questionnaire and the documents submitted by the candidates.
Those approved must achieve a minimum score of 7.0. The selection process will take place between December 1 and 10, with the preliminary results published on December 10, 2024. There is no registration fee!
How Does the Course Work?
This Writer Training course offers a basic training in literary writing, covering a wide range of literary genres such as novel, short story, chronicle, poetry, children’s text, youth text, and dramatic text.
Each genre will be treated as a learning path, with specific content for students to explore techniques and styles in a personalized way.
Moreover, the program stands out for its EAD format, which facilitates access for people from all regions of Brazil.
The classes, which start on January 15, 2025, will take place entirely online, with a certificate of extension issued by the Ministry of Culture and UFRGS at the end of the course.
Course Objectives and Benefits
The main objective of the Territories of Writing is to foster creativity and enhance participants’ writing skills, focusing on personal expression and authenticity.
During the course, students will:
Enhance character, plot, and dialogue construction;
Explore creative writing techniques;
Analyze various literary genres, broadening their repertoire;
Interact with renowned professionals, exchanging experiences and ideas about the literary universe.
Additionally, students will have the opportunity to develop a literary project during the course, with the possibility of receiving a R$ 2,000 scholarship, offered to 100 scholarship holders, who must use the funds to finalize their works.
Who Can Participate?
The course aims to include and represent different groups within Brazilian society. Therefore, the notice allocates specific slots for:
- 25% for black individuals (both African descent and mixed);
- 10% for indigenous people;
- 5% for individuals with disabilities (PCD).
