In-Person Classes in Various Cities of MS
Classes will take place at the campuses in Aquidauana, Campo Grande, Corumbá, Coxim, Naviraí, Ponta Porã, and Três Lagoas, allowing residents from various regions of the state to access the courses offered.
With an in-person format, IFMS aims to ensure a more dynamic and effective learning experience, where students can interact directly with the teacher and peers, facilitating the process of language acquisition.
Courses and Teaching Materials
The courses are structured in two stages, each lasting three semesters. However, students need to acquire the teaching materials, which are specific to each language. Check out the adopted works:
- Spanish: Nuevo Ven 1 (first stage) and Nuevo Ven 2 (second stage), from Edelsa Publishing.
- English: Interchange 1, 5th Edition (first stage) and Interchange 2, 5th Edition (second stage), from Cambridge University Press.
- Libras: LIBRAS? What Language is This? by Audrei Gesser, published by Parábola Publishing.
Upon completing each stage, students will receive certificates valid across Brazil, acknowledging their education in English, Spanish, or Libras.
Inclusion and Accessibility with Libras
The offering of Libras in the course plays a fundamental role in the inclusion of the deaf community and is one of IFMS’s main commitments to promote a more accessible and equitable education.
Mastering sign language not only provides a differential in various professions but is also an important step towards building a more inclusive society.
Professional Benefits of Learning a New Language
Studies indicate that mastering languages can significantly increase career prospects. Professionals fluent in English, for instance, can achieve salaries up to 61% higher than those who do not speak the language. In the case of Spanish, the salary increase can be up to 35%.
Knowledge of Libras has also become an increasing differential in public competitions and the job market, especially in fields such as education, health, and public service.
