Quota System and Social Inclusion
The IFMA quota system is quite comprehensive and ensures that at least 50% of the vacancies are reserved for candidates who completed their entire high school education in public schools. Of these reserved spots, half are for candidates with a family income equal to or less than one minimum wage per capita, while the other half is open to all income levels.
Furthermore, within the reserve for graduates of public schools, 79.84% of the spots are reserved for self-identified black, brown, and indigenous candidates; 9.10% for people with disabilities; and 3.97% for quilombolas.
Regardless of the calculation for reserved spots, at least one spot will be guaranteed for each quota group per course and shift. IFMA also guarantees 2.5% of the total vacancies for candidates with disabilities, regardless of school origin, income, or race/ethnicity.
