Become an E-Learning Tutor at UFSCar. The Deadline is Short and the Opportunity Could Be Your Chance to Enter One of the Best Universities in the Country. Don’t Waste Time!

In times where distance learning is gaining more and more space, job opportunities are also multiplying.

If you already work or are interested in working in the area of Distance Education (EAD), especially at a prestigious university like UFSCar (Federal University of São Carlos), pay attention to this opportunity that could change your career.

However, it’s not just any position. The process is selective, and the ideal profile requires more than a simple academic background.

With the expansion of the Open University System of Brazil (UAB), UFSCar has opened applications for the formation of a reserve pool of EAD tutors, professionals who will directly contribute to guiding and supporting students in distance undergraduate courses.

The demand is growing, and if you meet the requirements, this could be your chance to solidify your name in the educational job market, especially in a context where digital education is becoming essential.

Requirements for Application

To apply for one of the tutor positions, you must have a degree in Special Education or a Post-Graduation (Stricto Sensu or Lato Sensu) in the same area.

In addition, experience is a key factor: at least one year of teaching experience, whether in basic or higher education, is a prerequisite to ensure that candidates are prepared for the demands and challenges that distance education imposes.

Knowledge in educational technologies is also essential, and candidates must have digital literacy and the necessary technological resources to perform their duties remotely.

According to the selection notice, approved tutors will work a load of 20 hours per week, dedicating themselves to supporting students in their online courses. Although the process is for a reserve pool, convocations may occur as the demand for new tutors arises in the courses linked to the UAB System at UFSCar.

Important Dates for the Selection Process

Online registration and submission of documentation have been open since September 3, 2024, and interested parties have until 11 AM on September 26, 2024 to complete the entire process.

It’s worth remembering that it is also during this period that candidates must declare whether they have ties to any member of the Preliminary Judging Commission.

On September 26, 2024, the definitive list of members of the Judging Commission will be disclosed, and participants will be able to follow the next steps of the selection process.

The result of the scoring and ranking of candidates will be known on November 6, 2024.

From that date, those who wish can file an appeal until 5 PM on November 7, 2024 to contest the result. Finally, the final result, after analysis of resources, will be announced on November 12, 2024.

What to Expect from Working as a Virtual Tutor at UFSCar?

Being a tutor at a reference institution like UFSCar offers several advantages but also imposes challenges.

The virtual tutor plays a crucial role in pedagogical support for students, following their progress, answering questions, and providing guidance on content and proposed activities.

The role goes beyond simple technical support; it is about promoting a meaningful educational experience, directly contributing to the academic success of students.

The work format also requires a high level of organization and autonomy.

The 20 weekly hours required by the contract will be distributed across various activities, such as participating in discussion forums, grading assignments, and monitoring student performance.

All of this, of course, mediated by digital teaching platforms that allow for remote interaction.

How to Apply?

If you are interested and meet the requirements, the next step is to carefully read the selection notice and submit your application through the form available on UFSCar’s website, accessible via the link: https://formularios.ufscar.br/index.php/251791?lang=pt-BR.

It is essential for all candidates to pay attention to the schedule dates and the requested documents in the process, thus avoiding elimination due to simple errors. Be careful when filling in your details and check if all requested information is correct.

Distance Education: The Future of Academic Training?

With the exponential growth of EAD in recent years, many professionals have migrated to this area in search of new opportunities and challenges. Is this mode of education the future of academic training?

The chance to combine flexible schedules with quality education makes the demand for qualified tutors grow at an accelerated rate. For you, what is more important in an EAD tutor: technical knowledge or interpersonal skills? Leave your opinion in the comments!
