After Announcing Multimillion Investment in Latin America, French Brand May Bring New Model to the Automotive Sector. Know All About the New Pickup Truck from Renault That Will Arrive in 2026.
Renault has confirmed the launch of a new midsize pickup truck for 2026, replacing the current Oroch. The company will invest US$ 350 million in the new pickup truck, equivalent to R$ 1.9 billion, at the Santa Isabel plant, located in Córdoba, Argentina, where the model will be produced exclusively for the Latin American automotive market.
What Details Have Been Revealed So Far About the New Pickup Truck from Renault
With an expected production of around 65,000 units per year, 70% of this production will be exported, with Brazil being the main destination for the new Renault pickup truck. This new model will be based on the Niagara concept, previously revealed by the French brand, and will likely retain the same name in its production version.
In addition to a design inspired by the prototype, the new pickup truck will be built on the RGMP platform, the same one used by the Renault Kardian. This platform supports hybrid systems, 4×4 traction, and allows vehicle configurations with lengths between 4 and 5 meters.

The dimensions of the new Renault pickup truck promise to compete head-on with models like the Fiat Toro, Ford Maverick, Chevrolet Montana, and RAM Rampage, and the model’s proportions are similar to its competitors. Renault is making a strong investment in its ability to compete in this increasingly competitive segment.
Regarding the mechanical assemblies, the Niagara is expected to have only combustion engines, that is, gasoline or flex. However, it is also certain that the pickup will have electrified options. In Brazil, there are two variants of the platform being tested: a 48-volt mild hybrid and a full hybrid (HEV) with flex and electric engines, similar to the Toyota Corolla.
Renault Comments on Its New Investment
Additionally, Nissan, a partner of the French brand in the same group, will also have a version of this project, marking its entry into the monocoque midsize pickup market in the region. Although each brand has its unique design style, both versions will share the same platform and will be produced at the Santa Isabel factory, where Renault already produces models like the Alaskan in collaboration with the Nissan Frontier.
The production of this new Renault pickup truck strengthens the strategy of Renault and Nissan to expand their presence in the Latin American market, where there is a growing demand for pickup trucks. The CEO of Renault in Latin America, Luis Pedrucci, emphasized the importance of the investment, signaling the intention to increase production to up to 100,000 units per year in the medium term, with plans to export to other continents.
The first prototypes of the new Renault pickup truck are expected to start circulating in 2025, at which point more details about the design and performance of the model will be revealed. With this initiative, Renault takes another step toward strengthening its vehicle line in the region, betting on the success of the new generation of midsize pickup trucks.
What Will Be New in the RGMP Platform?
At the same time, Renault announced that its RGMP platform, in addition to enabling the assembly of various types of vehicles like SUVs and pickup trucks, is aligned with market trends in electrification and connectivity, standing out for its modern electronic architecture.
This new pickup truck from Renault reflects the brand’s strategy to develop products that meet regional demands, especially in a utility vehicle segment that has been widely successful in Latin America. The Brazilian market, being the largest in the region, will receive special attention in the exports of this model.
The development of the new pickup truck is another example of the collaboration between Renault and Nissan, which continue to expand their global partnerships. The joint production of utility models in Argentina consolidates this alliance, providing both brands with a competitive advantage in the automotive market.
