Renault is surprising the market with a new SUV. The Renault Kardian, a model that promises to compete with Pulse and Nivus, promises great power at an affordable price.

Renault's new SUV, the Kardian, arrives in Brazil in March next year and the French brand is already preparing the ground for its launch. The brand's new strategy focuses on SUVs and pickup trucks. Renault revealed some data about the design, engine and other specifications of the Kardian, which will be produced in the national territory.

New SUV Renault Kardian delivers 125 horsepower

Renault's new SUV will be produced at the Curitiba factory, meeting the demands of more than 20 countries. It will then also be produced in Morocco. The car will feature a 1.0 turbo engine and dual-clutch transmission.

The French brand has only announced this variation for now and it may be that, as sales take off, new options will emerge. As for specifications, the Renault Kardian will have 125 horsepower, 220 Nm of torque and 6 gears. The model will be responsible for debuting the CMF-B modular platform in Brazil, with the capacity to manufacture cars measuring 4 to 5 meters.

In addition, it will feature blind spot warning, frontal collision warning, six airbags, safe distance, and adaptive cruise control, 7-inch cockpit, black leather panel and 8-inch multimedia center, induction charger and USB ports.

Renault's new SUV is based on the third generation of the Dacia Sandero, but with design changes to avoid confusion. The internal LED lighting, the headlights linked to the front grille and the glossy black finish are part of the new appearance.

Renault Kardian should reach the Brazilian market for R$ 100 thousand

As for size, the model is 4,12 meters long, 1,75 meters high and has a wheelbase of 2,69 meters, in addition to a 410-liter trunk. The wheels are size 17. With these specifications, the Renault SUV is between the Fiat Pulse, its main rival, and the Volkswagen nivus. It is worth noting that some data about the new vehicle is still secret and should be revealed as the car's launch approaches.

We still don't know about Kardian's acceleration and speed, for example. Another fact that remains hidden by the French brand is its value in Brazil. Taking into account that the model will compete with the Fiat Pulse, therefore, it should have a similar price. Currently, the Fiat model has a starting price of R$100.990.

What were the best-selling SUVs in 2023?

O Volkswagen T-Cross repeated the good performance of June and closed July 2023 once again at the top of the ranking of the best-selling SUVs in the country. The German brand's compact crossover sold more units than in the previous month (8.853 x 7264) and left competitors behind.

The numbers released by Fenabrave made the T-Cross strengthen as the best-selling SUV in the country in the year to date. The model registered 40.587 units registered between the months of January and July 2023 against 25.262 for Creta, from Hyundai.

The difference widened greatly due to the poor performance of the South Korean SUV in July. The Creta was only the 5th best seller of the month, with 5.314 units sold. Ahead of it were the Chevrolet Tracker, with 5.438, and the Jeep Renegade, with 5.556.

The 2nd in the ranking of best-selling SUVs in Brazil in July was a big surprise, the Volkswagen Nivus which, in June, appeared in 8th position. The T-Cross's brother registered 6.498 units in the month and, as a result, improved its position in the general ranking of the year, overtaking the Nissan Kicks and taking 13th place.
