In a statement, Petrobras said that the equipment belongs to DOF Subsea Brasil, which was not conducting operations for Petrobras at the time of the incident.
According to information, the ROV may belong to the vessel “Skandi Commander” and was conducting acceptance tests. The company recently signed a three-year project with Petrobras, and this vessel is included in the project.
In a statement, DOF Brasil informed that the equipment is installed aboard one of the company’s offshore support vessels and detached in the early evening of Tuesday, July 16, due to sea conditions in recent days.
“Even with unfavorable weather conditions, we started the search for the ROV immediately after the incident. Today (07/18), during operations, the ROV was found on Saquarema beach, RJ. The company has already mobilized resources and is removing the ROV from the beach,” concluded the communication.
At the beginning of Thursday night, the City Hall informed that the area had been closed for the removal of the equipment from the location.
