Contest in the State of Rio Offers 300 Vacancies for Penal Police, with Attractive Initial Salaries of R$ 6,128. See How to Apply!

After 12 years of waiting, the state government of Rio de Janeiro announced the opening of a new public contest for the position of inspector of the Penal Police, linked to the State Secretariat of Penitentiary Administration (Seap).

The last selection was held over a decade ago, and this new opportunity arises as a response to the growing demand for reinforcement in the prison system.

The notice was published this Wednesday, November 6, in the Official Gazette, bringing details about the selection process, requirements, and contributions.

Contest Details

According to the notice, there will be 300 immediate vacancies for the position of inspector of the Penal Police. This is a role that requires a complete higher education degree in any area of training, distinguished by the proposal of an attractive initial salary and specific work regime. The main points include:

  • Initial Salary: R$ 6,128.29, with the addition of a Professional Valuation Gratification (GVP) of R$ 1,119.29.
  • Workload: 40 hours per week, which may be on a shift basis with a 24-hour work schedule followed by 72 hours of rest.

In addition to the 300 immediate vacancies, the notice also provides for the formation of a reserve list for possible future calls, according to the need and the state’s budget availability.

Applications are open from November 11 to December 12, providing adequate time for candidates to prepare their documentation and complete the necessary procedures.

Challenges and Responsibilities of the Role

Currently, Seap is responsible for the custody of over 43,000 individuals deprived of liberty, distributed across 50 prison units in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

Among Seap’s responsibilities are controlling access to these units, resocializing inmates, and electronically monitoring over eight thousand individuals on home detention.

The role of Penal Police inspector, therefore, is of great relevance for public safety and the criminal justice system, acting in the supervision and control of these environments.

According to Governor Cláudio Castro, the new hiring of inspectors represents an important strategy to strengthen the prison system. “The arrival of 300 new inspectors will allow Seap to intensify, mainly, the supervision at the gates of prison units across the state, enhancing the fight against the entry of illicit items, such as drugs and cell phones,” stated the governor.

With this, the government seeks to combat illegal activities that often involve the use of electronic devices and prohibited substances within prison units.

Relevance of the Contest for Public Safety

The contest for Penal Police inspector represents a response to the growing demand for personnel reinforcement in the penitentiary system. In a context where public safety is a constant priority, the state of Rio de Janeiro seeks to strengthen the Penal Police and ensure the integrity of the prison environment.

The new hires are seen as a preventive measure that aims not only at increasing surveillance but also at maintaining a functional structure within the prison units.

According to the State Secretary of Penitentiary Administration, Maria Rosa Lo Duca Nebel, this contest marks a new phase for the Penal Police and represents a unique opportunity for those who wish to build a solid career in public safety.

Career Opportunity

For those seeking a stable career focused on public safety, the position of Penal Police inspector offers a promising opportunity. In addition to a competitive initial salary, the role provides a fundamental role in defending society and managing prison units.

Candidates wishing to enter this sector will have the chance to contribute to the improvement of public safety in the state and develop a career growth trajectory.
