The Values Reached in 2022 Are the Highest Since the First Records in 1997 and the Poultry Market Had the Best Results
Since these numbers started to be computed in 1997, this year (2022) was the best-performing year ever recorded in the state of Santa Catarina, according to the FIESC Observatory. In this scenario, the poultry market stood out with a 23% increase compared to January and May 2021. Germany and the United States are the main buyers, and FIESC experts indicate that pork exports may also increase in the coming months. All of this aims to mitigate the drop in shipments to China due to sanitary issues and port restrictions there. These results bring a boost to the state’s economy and also at the national level, positioning Brazil better in the international market.
According to FIESC Observatory Analysis, the Increase in Exports Is the Result of Greater Insertion of the State in the International Scene and More Technology in Products
Experts from the FIESC Observatory conducted an analysis regarding this record and historic success of the state in exports, concluding that it is the result of a combination of factors, especially greater technology in processes and increased insertion in the international arena.
“The growth reflects a greater insertion of the state’s companies in the international market and a peak moment in the pricing of products that are relevant to our export agenda, such as poultry, wood, and furniture, as well as electric motors. The growth in presence in more demanding markets, especially the United States, confirms the quality of the products from Santa Catarina“.
Mario Cezar de Aguiar, President of FIESC, in a statement to the Amanhã portal (2022)
The record is explained, according to the FIESC, by the global rise in prices due to the impact of the pandemic. However, this is not the only reason for this surprising mark. Companies in the state of Santa Catarina have undergone a technological reformulation process, making their products more sophisticated. Within this scenario, Santa Catarina has excelled in negotiations for machines and motors with Europe and North America, especially with the United States.
In the post-pandemic period, Santa Catarina strengthened its image on the international stage and bolstered exports with key economic partners, such as the United States. However, China has not established significant negotiations due to the economic slowdown in the country. Nonetheless, negotiations with other countries have been so positive that they are bringing very favorable results despite everything.
