According to the government of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, through the Secretary of Environment, Development, Science, Technology, and Innovation (Semadesc), the forestry sector is one of the pillars of this economic progress.
Data from the Geographic Information System of Agribusiness (SIGA-MS) show that the forestry production chain generates more than 14,900 direct jobs and another 12,000 indirect jobs.

Originally from Teresina, Piauí, and raised in Matões, Maranhão, Eduardo arrived in the state at the beginning of 2024, in search of better living conditions.
Today, at 20 years old, Eduardo works as a tractor operator in the cultivation of forests in the area known as the Valley of Cellulose, in Ribas do Rio Pardo.
He started as a forest helper but quickly stood out.

He is in a relationship with Lauriana Souza Pereira, a 26-year-old tourism student from Corumbá. Together, they experience a rich cultural exchange and plan a promising future.

According to the government of Mato Grosso do Sul, investment in training is one of the state’s differentiators.
Since the beginning of the current administration, more than 270,000 spots in qualification courses have been offered, with a promise to further increase this number in 2025.
Lauriana is a clear example of the impact of this strategy. A student at the State University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UEMS), she secured a scholarship that helps her stay in Campo Grande.
Inspired by the cultural festivities of her hometown, such as the Banho de São João and Carnival, she chose to pursue a degree in Tourism and is already working in the events sector.
