Lecar Joins Horse to Offer a Revolutionary Hybrid Car, with a Powerful Engine and Cutting-Edge Technology to Reduce Fuel Consumption
Lecar, a new Brazilian manufacturer of electrified vehicles, has just entered into a partnership with Horse, which will be responsible for supplying the 1.0 turbo three-cylinder engine for Lecar’s future hybrid model. The car, named Lecar 459 Hybrid, promises to be a true revolution in the Brazilian market, with a launch forecast for 2026, according to automaistv.
The agreement between the two companies aims to provide 12,000 units annually of the HR10 engine, a flex 1.0 turbo, to equip the new model. With this partnership, Lecar, nicknamed “Brazilian Tesla“, reinforces its mission to transform the national automotive industry, focusing on sustainable and innovative vehicles. Expectations are high, and the advantages for consumers are many.
Range Extender Technology: A New Era for Hybrid Cars
The Lecar 459 Hybrid will be equipped with Range Extender technology, also known as EREV (Electric Range Extender Vehicle), where the combustion engine does not directly drive the vehicle’s wheels. Instead, it acts as a generator to charge the battery. This system increases the vehicle’s efficiency, as the combustion engine operates only during the most efficient moments, resulting in lower emissions and fuel savings.

Equipped with direct injection, turbo, and double camshafts, the HR10 has been designed to ensure strength and efficiency in Lecar’s hybrid model, without sacrificing a sustainable footprint.
According to Patrice Haettel, CEO of Horse, this partnership not only strengthens the company’s role in the automotive sector but also paves the way for catering to different markets, especially those seeking cleaner and more economical solutions. “It’s a flex engine, meaning its carbon footprint is very similar to that of an electric car. And this is a great differential!“, highlighted Haettel.

Lecar is not only relying on Horse for the motoring of the 459 Hybrid. WEG, a national giant in electric motor manufacturing, will be responsible for producing the electric generator for the vehicle.
