Meeting Between Tecpar, Detran-PR, and Partners Defines Next Steps for Digital Transformation in Vehicle Registration
On Tuesday, September 2, 2025, the Institute of Technology of Paraná (Tecpar) and the Department of Transit of Paraná (Detran-PR) held a strategic meeting in Curitiba. The meeting included financial and technological partners to discuss the tokenization of vehicles and the creation of the Digital Vehicle Passport.
The initiative aims to transform the way vehicles are registered, transferred, and financed in Brazil. Additionally, with the use of blockchain technology, each vehicle will have a unique digital asset, ensuring transparency, security, and efficiency.
Digital Platform Seeks to Eliminate Fraud and Streamline Processes
According to the officials, the system will allow for the immutable recording of data. This way, it reduces odometer tampering, prevents fraud in reports, and avoids omissions of historical information.

China surprises the world by inaugurating a new era: the country will create a “digital ID” for 28,000 humanoid robots from 100 manufacturers, while machines capable of cooking, doing laundry, and caring for the elderly begin free domestic testing in 2027.

The world’s smartest ring is now 40% smaller, measures blood pressure signals during sleep, monitors over 50 health metrics, has a battery life of up to 9 days, and features enhanced sensors for more accurate readings on any skin tone.
At the same time, the digital platform will bring greater speed to financing and property transfers. Currently, these procedures still depend on manual records, such as the ATPV-e (Authorization for Transfer of Vehicle Ownership).
With this advancement, Paraná reinforces its position as a pioneering state in the practical application of blockchain in the Brazilian automotive sector.
Technical Structure Will Include Participation from Tecpar, Vetrii, and Banco BV
Tecpar, in partnership with Vetrii, will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the digital infrastructure.
Furthermore, Banco BV will contribute with technical and financial support. As it is already part of the consortium for Drex, the digital currency from the Central Bank scheduled for 2026, the bank offers practical experience in digital solutions, which enhances the reliability of the system.
Authorities Highlight the Importance of Tokenization in Paraná
The president of Tecpar, Eduardo Marafon, emphasized that the institute serves as a reference in technology and certification. He explained that the accumulated experience strengthens the creation of a solid solution. “The trust chain of tokenization must be robust and reliable, ensuring direct benefits for citizens”, he stated.
The president of Detran-PR, Santin Roveda, highlighted that the project is part of the goal of making the agency 100% digital. He also emphasized that “this advancement will make processes faster, more transparent, and safer, always prioritizing citizen protection”.
Direct Benefits for Drivers and Companies in the Sector
The Digital Vehicle Passport promises practical advantages for both drivers and companies. Among the benefits are:
- Faster and digitized property transfer
- Lower risk of document fraud
- Reduction of informal costs in registrations
- Facilitated access to vehicle history
Moreover, companies such as manufacturers, insurers, and financial institutions will have access to integrated and reliable data. Thus, there will be an increase in the traceability of vehicles and the possibility to offer personalized services throughout each vehicle’s lifespan.
Pilot Projects Are Expected to Start Soon
After the September meeting, the participants announced the implementation of pilot tests that will integrate the Detran-PR systems.
These pilots will simulate the complete flow of tokenization, including digital registration, vehicle history, and the transfer of ownership on blockchain.
With the results, authorities will define the official implementation schedule for the Digital Vehicle Passport in the state.
Paraná Could Become a National Reference in Digital Innovation
If the project proceeds as planned, Paraná will be positioned to establish itself as one of Brazil’s pioneering hubs in the application of blockchain for vehicles.
This movement combines technological innovation, legal security, and administrative efficiency. Thus, the state aligns with global trends in the digitization of public records.
What do you think: should vehicle tokenization be rapidly adopted across Brazil to modernize the automotive sector or implemented gradually to ensure complete adaptation?
