Aerial Images Reveal Dozens Of TGV Trains, Including Historic Models Like The Sud-Est And The Eurostar, Abandoned In Military Base In France.

Historic TGV models, France’s high-speed train, are now abandoned in an impressive railway graveyard.

Two French urban explorers shared aerial images showing dozens of trains awaiting dismantling.

Striking Models Of Railway History

The TGV Sud-Est, launched in 1981 with its distinctive orange paint, was the first to operate on the high-speed line.

In 1988, the TGV Atlantique emerged, followed by the TGV Réseau in 1993. In 1994, it was the turn of the Eurostar, designed to cross the Eurotunnel between France and United Kingdom.

Many of these trains now lie side by side, in a setting that blends nostalgia and abandonment.

Complicated Disposal And Restricted Access

The dismantling of the trains is not simple. One of the challenges is the asbestos present in the trains, a toxic material that requires special care in the disposal process.

Moreover, the land where the trains are located belongs to the French Army.

Therefore, the explorers chose to use only drones to film, avoiding legal risks.

Images Reveal The End Of An Era

In the released footage, different models can be identified parked.

In the center of one of the images, a Eurostar appears, now obsolete, but once representing the peak of European railway technology.

Despite some of these trains having operated for decades, it’s hard to imagine they are now waiting for scrap.

The images have generated an impact on social media, especially among those who grew up seeing these trains as a symbol of innovation. The full video was published in French, with an option for automatic subtitles in English, and showcases a silent portrait of the end of an era on rails.
