Araucária Solar Will Be Inaugurated in São José dos Pinhais, Uniting Art, Renewable Energy, and Environmental Education in a Sustainable and Interactive Monument.

On the next April 24, São José dos Pinhais, in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba, will be the stage for a sustainable revolution: the inauguration of the first Araucária Solar in Brazil.

The project combines technology, sustainability, and culture in an artistic installation of social and environmental impact, reinforcing the city’s commitment to the future.

What Is the Araucária Solar?

The Araucária Solar is a sculpture about 5 meters tall and 8 meters wide, inspired by the symbol tree of Paraná.

Created by visual artist André Baía, the artwork was installed at the Afonso Pena Metropolitan Terminal, one of the busiest points in the city, with a daily flow of around 30,000 people.

The structure has eight solar photovoltaic modules, strategically arranged as if they were the tree’s leaves. These panels capture solar energy during the day and convert it into electricity.

The estimated production is 5,670 kWh per year, enough to power about 310 10W LED bulbs for five hours a day, throughout the year.

Much More Than a Monument

More than just generating renewable energy, the Araucária Solar has an educational and symbolic purpose.

According to artist André Baía, the installation aims to raise public awareness about the importance of sustainability, the use of clean energy, and the appreciation of local culture.

“The intention of the structure, in addition to resembling a real Araucária tree and generating clean energy, is to serve as an educational tool that highlights the importance of renewable energies, nature conservation, and local culture,” Baía emphasized.

Strategic Location and Collective Support

The choice of the Afonso Pena Metropolitan Terminal was not by chance. The location ensures visibility and direct interaction with the population, promoting environmental education in an accessible and everyday manner.

The initiative is the result of a partnership between ARBO and the Ministry of Culture, with support from the São José dos Pinhais City Hall and sponsorship from private companies such as Simm, Brose, MHM, Eco Fibra, and Aeroflex.

Education to Transform

In addition to the permanent monument, the project includes free workshops for students from the municipal public school system, led by André Baía himself. In these activities, students will learn artistic techniques using recyclable materials, encouraging creative thinking and ecological awareness from an early age.

Commitment to the Future

Mayor Nina Singer celebrated the initiative and highlighted its alignment with the municipality’s guidelines: “We received the proposal to host this monument in our municipality and promptly accepted, as it is in accordance with our commitment to bring art, innovation, and development to São José dos Pinhais. The Araucária Solar is a gain for all São José residents, who will have a work of art that brings real benefits to their daily lives,” she stated.

Meanwhile, the President Director of SIMM Solutions, José Perales, emphasized the importance of investing in projects that unite technology, renewable energy, and social responsibility.

“SIMM is proud to sponsor the Araucária Solar project, which symbolizes innovation and economic, social, and environmental sustainability, pillars that are also embedded in our company’s values. Contributing to a solution that combines art, renewable energy, and social benefits reaffirms our commitment to innovative and sustainable solutions,” he commented.

  • Date: April 24 (Thursday);
  • At 10 AM;
