Brazilian Navy Sinks Corvette That Had Been Decommissioned Since 2016 and Prepares Other Decommissionings for This Year
As Click Petróleo e Gás had reported, on June 18, the Brazilian Navy Had Already Painted the Hull of the Corvette Inhaúma (V-30), which had already been decommissioned and was docked at the Navy Arsenal in Ilha das Cobras, Rio de Janeiro.
According to information from the Navy, the Corvette was supposed to be hit by the 3rd prototype of the MANSUP missile (National Anti-Ship Surface Missile), launched by the frigate Independência (F44), but that is not what happened.
With the change of plans, the Brazilian Navy executed the launch of the Penguin missile from an SH-16 Sea Hawk helicopter from Squadron HS-1 (1st Anti-Submarine Helicopter Squadron).
The reason for the change was not disclosed, but what is certain is that now the Corvette Inhaúma rests on the seabed serving as a breeding ground for fish.

The Video
The video released by the Navy, which CPG provides at the end of the article, shows the moment of the missile launch from the helicopter and the moment it hit the water near the waterline of the Corvette.
Soon after, it can be seen that the vessel is being overflown by aircraft (MB AF-1 or FAB A-1) and it can be seen that it is hit and begins to sink, initially with the stern submerging.
The Corvette Inhaúma (V-30) was commissioned into the fleet on December 12, 1989, and was decommissioned on November 25, 2016, and being the first, it named the series.
