Volkswagen, one of the most beloved automakers by the Brazilian public, is launching a replacement for the Fox, a car that marked a generation. The new popular car from Volkswagen is being pointed out as a strong competitor to the Kwid. According to Motor1, the Volkswagen Polo, the hatchback that became the best-selling car in Brazil, arrives in the 2025 lineup full of news and with a significant price increase.

Information from Motor1 also states that, among the changes to the new popular car from Volkswagen, is the introduction of a new version, called Robust, focused on agribusiness. However, the news that scares consumers the most is the price increase for the entry-level version, which now approaches R$ 90,000. For those who don’t know, it has been 14 years since the Fox was discontinued and the Polo came as its replacement. Now, simply put, this new Polo comes to rival the Kwid, which is also in the hatch category.

According to data from the automaker, with the arrival of the 2025 lineup, the brand adjusted the prices of all versions of the Volkswagen Polo. As a result, the increases ranged from R$ 1,300 to R$ 2,300. The entry-level version of Volkswagen’s popular car, the Polo Track, the most popular in the lineup, saw an increase of R$ 1,300, reaching R$ 89,290.

In this way, this model, which many see as a replacement for the old Fox, is now the cheapest car from Volkswagen, raising concerns about accessibility and cost-effectiveness. It is also important to mention that Polo Track, despite its price increase, remains an economical option for many consumers.

Standard Equipment In The New Cheapest Car From Volkswagen

The most accessible version, as mentioned, is the Volkswagen Polo Track, which comes with standard equipment including four airbags (front and side), air conditioning, traction and stability controls, electric steering, hill-start assist, Media Plus radio, steering wheel audio controls, and front electric windows.

The MPI version already features the most modern optical set of the Polo and brings LED headlights, door handles and mirrors in the color of the car, fabric door trim, a 6.5-inch touchscreen multimedia system, and an automatic braking system.

In both the Track and MPI versions, the engine is a 1.0 aspirated engine with 84/77 horsepower on ethanol/gasoline and torque of 10.3/9.6 kgfm on the respective fuels. The transmission is always a five-speed manual.

The top version of Volkswagen’s car is the GTS, which features a 1.4 TSI engine with 150 horsepower and 25.5 kgfm of torque on both ethanol and gasoline. This version includes front seats with the GTS logo embroidered, multifunction camera, fatigue detector, black painted door handles and mirrors, among other details.

Volkswagen Polo Takes The Sales Lead In The First Quarter

The Volkswagen car was the best-selling new vehicle in the first quarter of 2024, according to data released by the National Federation of Automotive Vehicle Distribution (Fenabrave). In the period from January to March, 27,263 units of the Volkswagen popular car were registered. The Fiat Strada, which led the list of best sellers from 2021 to 2023, sold 26,580 units in the first three months of the year.

It is worth mentioning that Brazilians have already purchased more than 500,000 new cars in 2024. The country recorded 514,517 new registrations in the first quarter of this year, an increase of 9.1% compared to the same period in 2023. This number includes automobiles, light commercial vehicles, trucks, and buses. In March, the federation recorded 187,729 new registrations.
