The world has bet on green hydrogen as the fuel of the future, but now faces the side effect: producing 1 kilogram requires about 9 liters of ultrapure water, and the largest projects on the planet are precisely in the driest regions of the Earth, where water is already scarce for people.
Signed last week, the agreement provides for the development of green hydrogen, ammonia, and e-methanol projects in the state in the coming years.
Additionally, the company expects to contribute to the development of the Green Industry Port, which will be installed in Caiçara do Norte, for the production of offshore wind energy in the state.
Fátima Bezerra emphasized, at the company’s headquarters in Portugal, that Voltalia is currently the largest producer of renewable energy in the state. The center is responsible for overseeing the operation of plants belonging to the group in over 20 countries.
For her, the partnership with the energy company strengthens the Potiguar position as one of the great highlights in the sector throughout Brazil.
“With the signing of the memorandum today, we agreed to expand investments for the production of green hydrogen and participation in the Green Industry Port. Voltalia is very important for the development of RN, where it accounts for a large energy production and supports activities in the renewable energy sector,” stated the state governor.
