Santa Cruz do Sul remains the main electoral college of Vale do Rio Pardo and concentrates more than a third of all voters eligible to participate in the October 2026 elections in the region. In total, the 17 municipalities that are part of Amvarp have 307,762 voters eligible to vote in this year’s elections. Of this total, more than a third is concentrated in Santa Cruz do Sul, considered the hub city of the region.

Santa Cruz do Sul gathers more than 105 thousand voters eligible to vote

According to the data released by the TSE, Santa Cruz do Sul has 105,208 citizens eligible to participate in the elections.
This number represents the largest share of the regional electorate and demonstrates the political and electoral relevance of the municipality within Vale do Rio Pardo.
Furthermore, the data shows that women are the majority among Santa Cruz voters.
They total 56,446 voters, equivalent to 53.63% of the total.
Meanwhile, men represent 48,762 voters, corresponding to 46.37%.
The difference follows a trend observed in various regions of Brazil, although the female percentage in Santa Cruz do Sul is slightly higher than the national average.
Another aspect that draws attention is the social profile of the voters.
According to the survey, singles have greater representation among the voters in the municipality.
Additionally, citizens with a complete high school education appear as the predominant educational group, indicating a gradual change in the educational composition of local voters.
Majority of voters have mandatory voting
Among the 105,208 registered voters in Santa Cruz do Sul, most fall within the mandatory voting range.
In total, 89,485 citizens are between 18 and 70 years old and, therefore, must go to the polls as determined by Brazilian electoral law.
On the other hand, 15,723 voters are part of groups with optional voting.
This group includes teenagers who will turn 16 by the first round, scheduled for October 4, 2026, as well as seniors over 70 years old.
The numbers also reveal a significant curiosity.
Santa Cruz do Sul has 303 voters over 100 years old registered with the Electoral Justice.
The data demonstrates the active presence of centenarian citizens in the Brazilian democratic process and reinforces the longevity of the local population.
Biometrics already reaches a large majority of voters
Another important indicator presented by the Superior Electoral Court concerns biometric registration.
In Santa Cruz do Sul, 93,572 voters have already completed the fingerprint identification procedure.
Nevertheless, citizens who have not yet completed the registration are still eligible to vote normally.
According to the Electoral Justice, the absence of biometrics does not prevent participation in this year’s elections.
Furthermore, biometric registration can be done later, without prejudice to the exercise of the right to vote.
This advancement in registration has been considered fundamental to increasing the security and efficiency of the electoral process.
Amvarp Region surpasses 307 thousand voters
When analyzing the numbers from the entire Association of Municipalities of the Vale do Rio Pardo, the scenario also reveals the importance of the region within the electoral context of Rio Grande do Sul.
The 17 municipalities that make up the entity total 307,762 voters eligible to participate in the October elections.
Consequently, the region plays a significant role in municipal, state, and federal electoral disputes.
Furthermore, Santa Cruz do Sul alone accounts for more than a third of this total, consolidating its position as the main political and economic center of the region.
Brazil will have more than 158 million voters in 2026
The updated data from the TSE shows that Brazil will have 158,864,999 voters eligible to vote in the 2026 elections.
Of this total, 136,495,031 have mandatory voting.
Meanwhile, 22,369,968 Brazilians are part of groups with optional participation.
As in Santa Cruz do Sul, women are also the majority in the national electorate.
They represent 52.83% of Brazilian voters.
Meanwhile, men account for 47.15%.
Another relevant data involves the predominant age group.
According to the TSE, the largest group of voters in the country is between 40 and 44 years old.
This age group represents 10.13% of the national electorate, surpassing 15.84 million citizens.
Rio Grande do Sul maintains female predominance among voters
In Rio Grande do Sul, the number of eligible voters reaches 8,534,941.
Of this total, 7,417,534 have already completed biometric registration.

Regarding the gender profile, the state scenario follows the same trend observed in Santa Cruz do Sul and Brazil.
Women represent 52.88% of the electorate in Rio Grande do Sul.
Meanwhile, men make up 47.12%.
However, there is an important difference when it comes to education.
While in Santa Cruz do Sul, voters with complete high school education predominate, in Rio Grande do Sul, the most representative group is formed by citizens with incomplete elementary education.
This category accounts for 26.72% of eligible voters in the state.
Electoral profile helps to understand political trends
Experts point out that surveys like this are important to understand the composition of the electorate and its social characteristics.
Furthermore, the data assists parties, researchers, and candidates in analyzing the predominant demands and interests in each region.
In Santa Cruz do Sul, for example, the female majority, the predominance of singles, and the growth of the electorate with complete high school education help to draw a more accurate picture of the population eligible to participate in the October 2026 elections.
With more than 105,000 registered voters and a prominent position within Amvarp, the municipality will continue to play a strategic role in the political decisions of the region and the state.
