Work at the Federal Institute and earn up to R$ 7,000: IFRJ calls for individuals with high school, technical, and higher education levels in a competition with 400 vacancies, assistance of R$ 1,175, Idecan as the organizing committee, and the announcement expected for May 2026.

The planning of the IFRJ competition advances with the organizing committee defined, but still without an official announcement, while expectations about vacancies, salaries, and schedule circulate among candidates across the country interested in opportunities in the federal public service.

The new competition of the Federal Institute of Rio de Janeiro, IFRJ, is still in the planning phase and has not yet had an announcement published, despite the organizing committee already being defined since 2024.

So far, the most consistent confirmation is the maintenance of the contract with Idecan and the information, passed on by the institution itself, that the selection continues without an official launch date.

Although forecasts about 400 vacancies, salaries of up to R$ 7,000, and publication of the announcement by May 2026 have circulated on specialized sites and in third-party content, these points have not yet appeared confirmed on the official IFRJ page.

The safest scenario indicates a competition in preparation for the technical-administrative area, with the final number of vacancies, positions, and schedule still being defined.

Current situation of the IFRJ 2026 competition

The most objective information available is that IFRJ maintains the competition in planning and considers the contract with the company responsible for the organization to be valid.

In a response reproduced by specialized media in January 2026, the institution informed that the competition for the technical-administrative segment was still without a forecast for application at that moment.

This data matters because it currently dismisses the idea of a consolidated schedule.

In other words, there is still no secure basis to treat registrations, exam dates, or imminent publication of the announcement as established facts.

What exists, at this stage, is an administrative preparation that may advance when the institute completes the definition of the rules and structure of the selection.

Idecan remains responsible for the competition

The presence of Idecan in the process is one of the few points that appear stable among recent investigations.

The contract with the organizing committee was signed in 2024 and, according to what IFRJ informed to media outlets that follow competitions, this link remained active in January 2026, even without the announcement being released.

In practice, this means that the organizer remains associated with the future selection, but the mere existence of the contract is not enough to set a publication deadline.

The recent history of IFRJ itself shows this, as the announcement was previously awaited and ended up not being released within the expectations created in the competition market.

Number of vacancies not confirmed yet

The number of vacancies is precisely one of the points that require more caution.

There are contents on the internet mentioning around 400 opportunities, including immediate vacancies and reserve registration, but the most recurring investigation among specialized sources points, for now, to something around 50 immediate vacancies, in addition to registration, as an expectation associated with interviews and preparatory documents.

This difference is relevant because it alters the real dimension of the competition and the weight of the news for those following federal competitions.

Without a published announcement, the definitive quantity can still change, and the most prudent approach is to treat any number as a projection, not as a closed offer.

Positions and expected education levels

The available information indicates a focus on the technical-administrative area, with chances for positions that traditionally cater to candidates with secondary and higher education, in addition to technical specialties as per the institution’s needs.

Among the positions mentioned in behind-the-scenes coverage are administrative assistant, laboratory technician, and areas related to information technology, but the final list has not yet been formalized by IFRJ.

At the same time, the recent restructuring of careers in federal educational institutions has affected the design of these positions.

The legislation sanctioned in 2025 and consolidated in 2026 reorganized careers and opened space for new broad designations, such as education technician and education analyst, which may directly influence the formatting of the next IFRJ announcement.

Updated salaries and benefits in federal public service

Without a new announcement, the remuneration for the next competition has not been officially disclosed by IFRJ.

Therefore, it is not possible to confirm as definitive the amount of up to R$ 7,000 mentioned in the title.

In specialized coverage, the estimated range varies according to the position and career classification, with projections even reaching higher levels, but still without validation in a document from the institute.

What has already changed in federal public service, officially, are the general benefits.

The food assistance was adjusted to R$ 1,192 in April 2026, while pre-school assistance increased to R$ 526.34.

These amounts apply to direct federal public administration, autonomous, and foundational entities, but the way they apply to the competition depends on the regime and the future announcement.

How the exams for the IFRJ competition should be

The structure planned for the selection has also not been formalized in an announcement, but documents and reports about the hiring of the organizing committee indicate a probable design.

The trend is for objective tests for all candidates and title evaluation for higher-level positions, with about 50 multiple-choice questions and an approximate duration of four hours.

According to this preliminary outline, the content may include Portuguese Language, Legislation and Ethics, Computer Science for some positions, and specific knowledge according to the contested function.

There is also mention of the possibility of a practical test for certain specialties, which reinforces the need to wait for the announcement to know the actual requirements for each position.

Recent history of IFRJ in public competitions

A concrete reference comes from the most recent IFRJ competition for administrative technicians, published in 2023.

On that occasion, the institution offered 11 vacancies for positions such as laboratory technician, librarian, mechanical engineer, doctor, and nutritionist, with starting salaries ranging from R$ 2,446.96 to R$ 4,180.66.

This history does not automatically define the next selection, but it helps to gauge the profile of the competition.

IFRJ usually distributes opportunities across specific areas, linked to the needs of the campuses and administration, which tends to keep competition high.

How to register for the IFRJ competition

Registrations for the new IFRJ competition are not yet open, as the announcement has not been published so far.

When the selection is officially launched, the procedure should be done online, on the page indicated by IFRJ and the organizing body Idecan, with information about fees, schedule, documentation, requests for exemption, and tracking of the stages.

Until then, the safest guidance is to follow only the official channels of the institute and the organizer, avoiding registrations on parallel pages that treat the competition as open without documentary support.

The decisive step for those intending to compete remains waiting for the publication of the announcement, as only this document will establish vacancies, positions, requirements, salaries, and selection dates.
