Xiaomi Launches Smart Digital Lock with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth That Installs Without Drilling the Door, Features Biometric Reader, NFC and 6-Month Battery Life.
Xiaomi surprises again with the launch of the Self-Install Smart Lock, a digital lock that combines security, modern design and a simple proposal: quick installation without the need to drill the door. The device was officially announced in October 2025 in China and is already catching the attention of consumers and technology enthusiasts for its practicality and total integration with the Xiaomi Home ecosystem.
Designed for those seeking security and automation without complications, the new lock relies on a quick-lock system that eliminates the need for tools and structural changes. The concept of “self-install” — literally “install it yourself” — is the product’s standout feature. It takes just a few minutes for the user to replace the traditional latch with an electronic system featuring Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, app control and integration with virtual assistants.
Technology and Connectivity in the Xiaomi Standard
The Self-Install Smart Lock offers a range of smart functions that go beyond the simple act of locking or unlocking a door.

With the wingspan of a Boeing 747 and 160 times lighter, a solar drone flies for 90 days without landing, without fuel, and without a pilot, carrying 17,248 photovoltaic panels, a 200 km radar with AI, and has already crossed storms in the Gulf of Mexico during tests for the U.S. Navy.
The lock can be controlled remotely via the Mi Home app, allowing the user to check the door’s status, grant access to family members, friends or service providers, and even receive real-time alerts for attempted forced openings.
The model also features a fingerprint reader, numeric password and NFC card, as well as unlocking via smartphone and integration with the Xiaomi Smart Doorbell 3 and Xiaomi Smart Camera, allowing for the creation of a complete home security system.
The use of dual connectivity (Wi-Fi + Bluetooth) ensures stable access even in environments without continuous internet.
Minimalist Design and Tool-Free Installation
One of the most discussed points of the launch is the simplified installation, which eliminates the need for drilling or complete replacement of the doorknob.
According to Xiaomi, the structure was developed to adapt to most standard doors, using adjustable fittings and reinforced internal supports.
The finish in brushed metal alloy with clean and discreet lines reinforces the brand’s premium appeal. The lock also features backlit buttons and a low battery alert, as well as support for emergency power via USB-C port.
Enhanced Security and Battery Life
The Self-Install Smart Lock comes equipped with a military-grade encryption system (Mijia Security Chip) and promises resistance to common tampering methods, such as impact, vibration and magnetism.
The internal battery, composed of two lithium cells, offers battery life for up to six months of continuous use, according to the manufacturer, with automatic low charge alerts.
In tests reported by specialized Chinese media, the product demonstrated excellent biometric reading performance, with unlocking in less than 0.5 seconds, and an almost instantaneous response to app commands.
Price and Availability
In China, the lock was launched for 399 yuan (approximately R$ 285 in direct conversion), a competitive price compared to rivals from brands like Aqara and Tuya.
There is no official forecast for its arrival in Brazil, but specialized retailers are already preparing parallel imports for the audience interested in affordable home automation.
With the new product, Xiaomi reinforces its commitment to the concept of “Smart Home for Everyone”, offering technologies that combine security, design and ease of use — now with a touch of practicality that eliminates even the need for a drill.
