Approved by the Senate on July 7, 2026, the Pix Pension project allows child support to be automatically transferred to beneficiaries or legal representatives, after a judicial decision. The proposal by Tabata Amaral proceeds to presidential sanction and provides for communication to the judge if there is insufficient balance in the debtor’s account.
The Senate approved on July 7, 2026, the project that creates the so-called Pix Child Support, a mechanism that can automate the payment of child support determined by the court. The proposal is not yet in effect as a definitive rule, as it depends on presidential sanction to come into force.
According to Só Notícia Boa, in a publication on July 8, 2026, the measure would allow the amount to be transferred directly to the account of the person taking care of the children or the child’s or adolescent’s legal representative. The Senate Agency reports that PL 4.978/2023 is authored by federal deputy Tabata Amaral and was reported in the Senate by senator Ana Paula Lobato.
How Pix Pension should work in practice
The Pix Child Support does not create an automatic payment without the participation of the court. The proposal provides that the person responsible for receiving the child support requests the judge’s authorization for the automatic transfer of the amount defined in the process.

After judicial authorization, the financial institution would be responsible for withdrawing the amount from the account of the person who must pay and transferring it to the account of the beneficiary or their legal representative. The goal is to reduce repeated charges and make the monthly payment more predictable for those who depend on this resource.
What changes for those who depend on the pension
In practice, the change seeks to reduce delays in cases where there is already a court decision on child support. Today, when payment does not occur spontaneously, many families need to return to court to claim overdue installments.
The proposal attempts to create a more automatic flow, especially to prevent each monthly default from becoming a new collection stage. For children and adolescents, child support is usually linked to basic expenses, such as food, health, education, housing, and daily routine.
Why informal workers are at the center of the measure
The project has a special impact on cases of workers without formal ties. Those who work with a signed work card can already have direct deductions at the source when there is a court order, which facilitates the execution of alimony payments.
In cases of informal income, collection can be more difficult because there is not always a payroll for automatic deductions. Therefore, the Alimony Pix targets bank transactions as a way to make the court decision more effective.
Without balance in the account, bank must report the situation
The proposal also provides for what should happen if the account of the person paying alimony does not have sufficient balance on the determined date. In this case, the financial institution must report the situation to the competent authority.
The text approved in the Senate also allows the unavailability of financial assets up to the limit of the updated value of the overdue installment. The measure may also reach financial assets of an individual entrepreneur, including when linked to business activity, according to the approved proposal.
Presidential sanction is still the next step
Despite approval in the Senate, the Alimony Pix still depends on presidential sanction. This means that the proposal can only become a rule after analysis by the Presidency of the Republic, which can sanction or veto the text.
This point is essential to avoid confusion: approval in the Senate does not mean that automatic transfer has already started to apply to all families. For now, alimony continues to follow the current rules until the project is sanctioned and starts to produce legal effects.
A change that affects families and the Judiciary
The proposal also addresses a recurring problem in family cases: the difficulty of ensuring regularity in alimony payments. For the recipient, delay can mean instability in the budget; for the Justice system, each collection can generate new procedural movements.
If sanctioned, the Pix Child Support could change the way some of these collections are made in Brazil. Do you think automatic transfer helps protect children and adolescents, or do you believe the measure needs more guarantees to avoid issues for those who pay? Leave your opinion in the comments.
