The Notices Of The More Doctors Program Will Prioritize Brazilian Health Professionals
The President of the Republic revealed on Monday (20) that the Ministry of Health will resume the old More Doctors program. This time, the program will include more health professionals, such as dentists, nurses, and social workers, in addition to receiving government investments to build and renovate Basic Units.
The government relaunched the More Doctors program with the promise of opening 15,000 positions this year – with 10,000 requiring funding from municipalities. According to G1, the upcoming health program notices will prioritize Brazilians, whether trained in Brazil or abroad. However, the government does not completely rule out the hiring of foreign doctors.
The Goal Is To Double The Number Of Health Professionals In The Program
Created in 2013, the More Doctors program was never officially closed but suffered a reduction in investments during the administrations of Michel Temer and Jair Bolsonaro. The goal of the new version of the health program is to double the number of participating professionals. The Minister of Health, Nísia Trindade, revealed that the call for applications for the 5,000 positions that already exist and are vacant should be announced this week.

Government States That Public Spending Controls Will No Longer Limit Health Programs
The President of the Republic states that public spending controls cannot mean limitations on social programs, such as the More Doctors program, for example, or delays in investment schedules. The federal government is expected to announce a new fiscal framework developed by the economic team that will have to be approved by Congress.
If the new fiscal framework is approved, its rules will replace the current spending cap, which prevents public spending growth from exceeding inflation. Thus, an eventual surge in spending that increases government debt, generates inflation, and also penalizes the poorest will be permitted.
“We need to change our concept of what spending is and what investment is. Everything done to educate the people, to train the people, to care for the health of the people, needs to be seen as investment”, justified the President of the Republic.
