This record was noted as early as the first month of the year, due to the joint action between Ferroeste and Rumo. A Special Operations Contract (COE) was signed at the beginning of the year by Governor Carlos Massa and Rumo, which consisted of a commercial agreement to increase the capacity to transport the harvest, benefiting the productive sector of the State.
In April, soybeans and refrigerated containers with chicken were the largest loads transported, via the Port of Paranaguá and cement and fertilizer to the city of Cascavel.

According to the State Secretary of Infrastructure and Logistics, Sandro Alex, “the numbers prove the efficiency of the new Ferroeste. We managed, even in the face of a pandemic, to transport a record volume of cargo from the West to the Port of Paranaguá.”
“A commitment we made with Governor Ratinho Junior at the beginning of the year after a 2019 in which the company, for the first time in history, closed in the black, making a profit,” he explained. “We started 2020 with a great partnership with the private sector, through Rumo, benefiting the cargo from the West. The record movement of 160 thousand tons proves the efficiency of the work of the entire team at the new Ferroeste,” emphasized the secretary.
The estimate is that the volume of products transported on the railway network connecting Cascavel to Guarapuava will increase from 1.1 million tons per year to about 2 million/year.
There is an integration between the increased work done by Ferroeste and the performance of the ports in Paraná, where the increase in cargo impacts both points. According to Luiz Fernando Garcia, CEO of the public company Portos do Paraná, “This represents success for the entire chain. The success of Ferroeste is the success of the ports. The more cargo Ferroeste brings, the more cargo the ports ensure, thus achieving an efficient and quality flow of production as always recognized by the international market.”
