Honda is not playing around and has presented the WR-V, a compact SUV that promises to be the new favorite of Brazilians. This car has been registered in Brazil since 2022, but now the Japanese automaker has officially confirmed its launch. And the best part: it arrives to be the cheapest SUV in the country.

Features of the New Honda WR-V

The new WR-V comes with a simplified platform, based on the City and HR-V, but with several improvements. It is larger and more spacious than its predecessor, offering dimensions close to the HR-V, with 4.32 meters in length, 2.65 meters in wheelbase, 1.79 meters in width, and 1.65 meters in height. And check this out: it weighs only 1213 kg and has a trunk of 311 liters.

Engine and Performance

Under the hood, the WR-V features a 1.5 four-cylinder engine, the same one used in the Honda City and the simpler versions of the HR-V. This engine is naturally aspirated, with direct fuel injection, and can run on both ethanol and gasoline. It delivers 126 horsepower and 15.8 kgfm of torque, always paired with an automatic CVT transmission that simulates up to seven gears. Abroad, it is also offered with a manual transmission.

And the best part: the fuel consumption is impressive! In Japan, the WR-V achieves over 16 km/l in the city. Here, the expectation is that it will also deliver great fuel economy.

Interior and Equipment

Inside, the WR-V is simple but functional. The finish is in hard plastic, but of good quality. It comfortably accommodates five occupants thanks to the generous wheelbase. In terms of equipment, it comes with:

Multi-functional steering wheel
Keyless entry with remote start
Wireless phone charging
8-inch multimedia screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

Safety

The new WR-V comes with six airbags as standard, traction and stability control, disc brakes in the front, and drum brakes in the rear. The top-of-the-line versions, RS and Touring, include collision warning with autonomous emergency braking and Lane Watch, which displays the blind spot image on the multimedia screen.

Price and Launch

The new WR-V will be produced in Brazil, in the interior of São Paulo, which should help keep prices competitive. The launch is scheduled for the second half of 2024, with a price range estimated between R$ 110,000 and R$ 150,000, positioning it as the cheapest SUV in the country. Versions for PCD are also expected, with even more affordable prices.
