The Italian Company Is Traditional When It Comes to High-Performance Tractor Production, CNH Industrial Innovates in Autonomous Vehicles: The Autonomous Electric Tractor Comes with the Promise of Savings and Changing How Global Agriculture Has Been Working.
CNH Industrial revealed, now at the beginning of December, the first prototype that guarantees better performance when it comes to life in the countryside. The company is heavily investing in a lightweight electric tractor with autonomous driving features, which can even be controlled via smartphone. The New Holland T4 Electric Power, this electric tractor promises zero emissions of harmful gases to health, and operations that are quieter than diesel models, according to CNH. The new electric vehicle also promises lower operational costs, reducing the amount of time farmers spend behind the wheel.
The New Holland T4 Electric Power, the latest electric tractor, will be the ideal solution for lower power operations, such as mixed applications, livestock, orchards, and specialties. For these functionalities, the highest technology used in autonomous vehicles is being utilized to bring the best performance and savings for its users.
The 120 HP engine produces a maximum speed of 25MPH, comparable to common tractors. The battery is large enough to “last” a workday, depending on the task, leading to the conclusion that throughout the day it will be necessary to recharge. CNH assures that this will not be a problem, as the T4 can reach a full battery in up to one hour, using fast chargers ready for use.

Chile inaugurates the first electric highway for the trucks that drive its economy, installs high-power chargers over 400 km, and aims to reduce diesel dependency in a logistical shift to Puerto Montt by 2030.
The tractor’s power outlets can be used for other equipment such as drills, welding, and drilling. It can also function as a power generator for emergency situations. The prototype of the electric tractor was so well thought out that it can provide power for electric implements, generating a cost benefit.

Just like autonomous passenger vehicles, the electric tractor offers performance as good as that of diesel-powered ones. Its responsiveness makes it more aggressive, providing greater traction control. It also reduces operational costs by 90%.
There will also be an option for those who prefer a more environmentally friendly version. The equally new T7 Methane Power LNG is announced as the world’s first liquid natural gas tractor. It can run on biomethane, fuel extracted from manure. Instead of letting methane escape into the environment, farmers can use this chemical to work and power other equipment, potentially reducing CO₂ emissions for a farm with 120 head of cattle. This is equivalent to 100 families, without diminishing the performance of the T7; however, it does not yet have a release date.
The price of these new technological equipment has not yet been announced. Even with farmers’ concerns, CNH Industrial assures that its technology will bring savings for the sector.
