“The Back-and-Forth” Between UTC and Petrobras Resulted in the Dismissal of a Horde of Workers, and More Than 2000 Are Expected to Be Laid Off by the Weekend
Insurgencies Between BR and UTC Engineering Resulted in a Collective Dismissal of About 2000 Employees Directly from Service Providers. “This Collective Outrage” (I couldn’t find a better expression to define this one-sided situation) had already been circulating on social media and in conversations among company employees for some time, but since no one from the higher-ups issued any statement, nobody knew exactly what was happening.
Yesterday (10), employees went to the company already fearing the worst after a collective summons; see in the photo below the “Legal Telegram from Gugu” that employees received. Click to enlarge the photo:

The 7-seater SUV has become an alternative for those who need space without spending much, combining a 260 hp V6 engine, automatic transmission, and the size of a large utility vehicle for less than R$ 80,000: meet the 2012 Hyundai Veracruz.
Immediately, employees began to revolt and protest, even blocking the street and forming barricades to prevent access until the situation was clarified. Soon after, the union arrived, and a series of negotiations began to understand what was happening. Let me take this opportunity to commend the union for providing snacks and coffee for the former employees who had been there since early in the morning.
Some time later, when nothing could be done there, a march and demonstration was organized in front of Petrobras in Macaé, but for BR, this was also of no consequence, as this is a complex issue and could take quite some time to resolve.
The Reasons for This Mass Dismissal
According to Petrobras’ official statement yesterday, the amounts that were not transferred to UTC are related to administrative and operational irregularities from 2011, at the Alberto Pasqualini Refinery (REFAP), located in the state of RS.
UTC, on the other hand, claims that these amounts do not align with the current contracts and have nothing to do with operations in the Campos Basin. With no financial resources, the company was forced to lay off employees en masse.
