Global Launch of the Xiaomi 17 Line Happens on February 28, Before MWC 2026, with Focus on Extreme Performance, Leica Cameras, and High-Capacity Batteries that Put the Brand in the Center of the Premium Battle.

Xiaomi has confirmed that it will globally present the Xiaomi 17 line on February 28, in Barcelona, Spain, with a livestream on social media and a focus on the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra models.

The announcement wraps up a series of rumors and leaks about the new generation and puts the brand in the international spotlight on the eve of MWC Barcelona 2026, which GSMA has scheduled for March 2 to 5.

In official materials for the event, the manufacturer announces a dedicated microsite for the launch and highlights pre-sale conditions for Europe, including 24-month warranty, free screen replacement for six months, and out-of-warranty repairs with no labor costs.

These incentives, in turn, target consumers who often compare assistance and coverage before buying a high-end device, especially in markets where premium competition is more fierce and prices tend to rise with each generation.

Expected Prices and Positioning in the Premium Market

Xiaomi has not published official prices yet, but leaks reported by specialized outlets suggest that the Xiaomi 17 may start at 999 euros for the version with 12 GB and 256 GB, rising to 1,099 euros with 512 GB.

Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, according to the same line of unverified information from the company, could appear at 1,499 euros with 16 GB and 512 GB, going up to 1,699 euros for the option with 1 TB, with variations depending on taxes and retail.

On the technical side, the most solid confirmation is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform, announced as the premium chip of the generation, indicating a focus on performance, efficiency, and advanced artificial intelligence features.

Nevertheless, the other detailed specifications circulating before the event remain treated as expectations, as Xiaomi has not published a complete technical sheet in the promotional material for the global launch so far.

Xiaomi 17: OLED Screen 120 Hz and 7,000 mAh Battery

Among the most cited points in leaks, the Xiaomi 17 would be the model with the smaller screen, featuring an OLED panel of about 6.3 inches, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 3,500 nits, in addition to Android 16 under HyperOS 3.

The same set of information points to a 7,000 mAh battery with 100 W charging and wireless charging, in addition to modern connectivity with 5G and Wi‑Fi 7, although the company has not publicly validated these figures yet.

In terms of cameras, leaks describe a rear trio of 50 megapixels, with a stabilized main sensor, an ultrawide, and a telephoto, while the front could reach 50 megapixels with autofocus, aimed at the premium audience.

IP certification against water and dust is also a recurring expectation, along with Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and an infrared emitter, but these items often vary by market and tend to be confirmed only in final technical material.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra: Leica 200 MP Camera and Focus on Photography

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra, on the other hand, focuses on photography, referencing Leica and mentioning a 200 megapixels telephoto, alongside a 50 megapixels one-inch main sensor.

There is also an expectation of a larger AMOLED screen, with high resolution and a dynamic refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz, alongside the brand’s proprietary protection glass, although Xiaomi has not provided these details on the event page.

Regarding resistance, some reports cite IP66, IP68, and IP69, a set that often indicates extra protection against water jets and dust; however, this type of certification requires official confirmation by model and region.

Regarding energy, leaks mention a battery around 6,800 mAh in the Ultra, with fast charging both wired and wireless, as well as reverse charging, although the final figures may change by the announcement.

In terms of performance and memory, what keeps repeating in the anticipations is the presence of up to 16 GB of RAM and storage of up to 1 TB, seeking to compete at the top of the Android segment in multitasking, video recording, and local processing.

Xiaomi Strategy Before MWC 2026

With the launch set for February 28 and MWC starting on March 2, the strategy signals that Xiaomi wants to enter the event already with the devices announced, taking advantage of the concentrated attention in Barcelona.

If the company confirms on stage the package mentioned in leaks, including the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and the camera system in partnership with Leica, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra could become one of the most talked-about devices of the season.

I don’t have the same quality as Xiaomi phones. Going from the 17 to the iPhone’s number is a marketing strategy, we know; people have always paid a lot for iPhones. If it’s now a question of paying for Xiaomi, why not? It’s also very good quality.
Personally, I prefer a mid-range model because I’m not prepared to sponsor their research, which is already underway.
Sorry I was lazy to translate but maybe the spirit is there
