The Brazilian Oil And Natural Gas Sector Achieved New Levels Over The Last Year. The ANP Revealed The Results Of Daily Production And Announced A Record Exploration Of Fuels In The Fields Of The National Territory.
Even with all the international geopolitical instabilities, the Brazilian oil and gas sector survived the year 2022 with great results. The National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) announced that the country achieved a record production in the last year. There were more than 3.021 million barrels per day in oil and natural gas projects. This number represented 2.47% more than the recorded in 2020.
Brazilian Oil And Natural Gas Sector Achieves Surprising Results In 2022, With New Production Records, As Announced By The ANP
The national market for oil, natural gas, and biofuels faced significant instability in 2022.
International political disputes raised concerns about the shortage of various products. In addition, the project for the dismantling and privatization of Petrobras caused even greater issues in the segment.

A Canadian study detects record methane emissions and reveals that abandoned oil wells pollute up to 1,000 times more than expected.
However, the ANP reinforced that the country not only finished the year without losses in oil and gas production but also achieved new exploration records.
In total, the country ended last year with a production of 3.021 million barrels of oil per day, a figure 2.47% higher than the record observed in 2020, when it reached 2.948 million barrels of oil per day.
This number represents the strength of the Brazilian oil and natural gas sector, which remained resilient even amid production bottlenecks.
As for natural gas, Brazil reached an annual average of 138 million cubic meters per day (m³/day) in 2022, exceeding by 2.98% the mark of 134 million m³/day recorded in 2021.
The month of December had less positive results in production from oil and gas sector projects, according to the ANP. There were over 3.955 million barrels per day, consisting of 3.074 million bbl/d of oil and 140.14 million m³/day of natural gas.
Even with great numbers, these figures represent a decrease of 0.7% and 0.2%, respectively, when compared to the month of November last year.
Increase In Oil And Natural Gas Exploration Campaigns Led To Production Records For Fuels In The National Sector
The pre-salt region continues to be one of the biggest bets of the Brazilian oil and gas sector over the last year.
The ANP recorded a production of 2.986 million boe/d, which corresponded to 75.5% of Brazilian production.
Thus, there was an increase of 0.7% compared to the previous month and 10.2% in comparison with the same month of the previous year.
The general director of the ANP, Rodolfo Saboia, highlighted that advances in new fuel exploration campaigns in the sector led to the great results.
He hopes that the year 2023 will continue to see significant growth in the daily production of products, as this segment is one of the most profitable for the Brazilian market.
“In this sense, it is expected that there will be an increase in the number of exploratory activities carried out, which, consequently, in case of exploratory success, may lead to the appropriation of a larger volume of oil and natural gas reserves in the country,” he emphasized.
The ANP results show that the Brazilian oil and natural gas sector remains one of the largest in the national market.
