The Renewal of the License and APM Terminals’ Robust Investment Will Make Pecém Port an Important Logistics Hub in Brazil’s Northeast.

With the renewal of the license to operate at the Port of Pecém for another 15 years, APM Terminals Pecém announces an investment of R$ 200 million focused on expanding operational capacity, modernizing equipment, and reducing carbon emissions.

The expectation is that the expansion works will be completed by 2029, increasing the terminal’s annual handling from 650,000 to 850,000 TEUs, making Pecém Port even more strategic for trade and the economy of Ceará.

Capacity Expansion and Technological Modernization

The expansion project includes the installation of a fourth Ship-to-Shore (STS) crane, which will enhance efficiency in loading and unloading ships.

The continuation of APM Terminals’ operations at the Port of Pecém reinforces cooperation with the Pecém Complex and the Government of the State of Ceará.

“The partnership with the Pecém Complex and the State Government has been essential to enable this new phase of sustainable expansion and job creation,” highlights Daniel Rose.

The expectation is that the project will bring not only logistical advancements but also positive economic impacts, with the creation of direct and indirect jobs in the region.

With the renewal of the license and the robust investment, Pecém Port is consolidating itself as an important logistics hub in Brazil’s Northeast, combining operational expansion, technological innovation, and environmental responsibility to meet global market demands.
