Strategic Highways of the State of São Paulo, Between the Capital, the Interior, and the Guarulhos Airport, Will Undergo Works with Partial Interdictions at Specific Times and Night Activities That May Affect Traffic in High Traffic Segments.
Three highways of the Ayrton Senna/Carvalho Pinto Corridor, managed by the Ecovias Leste Paulista concessionaire, will have alternating closures and works between June 9 and 15, in high circulation sections, including access to Guarulhos Airport.
The goal is to preserve the infrastructure and enhance safety for the approximately 150,000 vehicles that travel daily in this corridor.
Closures and Schedules of Works on the Highways
The interventions will take place daily from 8 AM to 6 PM, with alternating lane closures.

While common constructions rely on wood, metal, and industrial tiles, African houses made with mud, stone, and water do without imported roofing, withstand extreme heat, and have already become a climate solution for thousands of families.
-
A truck with 152 wheels was needed to transport the giant 137-ton cutter head of a tunnel boring machine, in an operation planned for months to take the cutting piece to the site where it would be assembled.
-
While a regular building may take years under construction, in London two towers of 44 and 38 floors were erected with more than 1,500 ready modules and reduced the timeframe by 42%.
-
The building that looks like it was assembled as a giant toy in Singapore used 1,866 concrete modules, formed two 40-story towers, and brought 505 apartments to the top.
Signage will be reinforced to guide drivers. At night, heading toward the Capital, a fourth lane will be resurfaced between km 61 and 25.
Night works will occur daily from 9 PM to 5 AM, to avoid affecting heavy daytime traffic.
This intervention is part of the concession contract overseen by the Transport Agency of the State of São Paulo (Artesp).
Ayrton Senna Highway Will Undergo Full Maintenance
Between kilometers 11.1 and 60, the SP-070 connects São Paulo to Guararema. The works include pavement preservation, replacement of signs, and repair of metal barriers.
The interventions will take place in both directions of the highway. This section is strategic, crossing urban regions and protected environmental areas.
The highway currently supports over 200,000 vehicles per day.
Works Also Affect the Carvalho Pinto Highway
From km 61 to 134, between Guararema and Taubaté, the SP-070 will receive interventions in both directions.
The concessionaire is carrying out asphalt restoration and maintenance of metal barriers.
There will be alternating lane closures, aimed at minimizing impacts on traffic.
Hélio Smidt Highway Will Have Interventions in Guarulhos
In the stretch between km 0 and 2.4 of the SP-019, in Guarulhos, the teams will work on pavement recovery.
Mantenance of expansion joints, which prevent cracks and structural damage, will also be performed.
Additionally, there will be reinforcement of vertical and horizontal signage on the road.
This highway is the main access to São Paulo International Airport (Cumbica).
Environmental and Landscaping Services on the Roads
During the same period, Ecovias will carry out complementary services.
Planned activities include tree pruning, waste collection, vegetation mowing, and recovery of green areas.
These actions will not require lane closures and will take place with traffic flowing normally.
The schedule is flexible and may be adjusted according to weather and operational demands.
Corridor SP-070 Requires Constant Maintenance
The Ayrton Senna/Carvalho Pinto corridor has 143.7 km of length under concession.
It records an average annual traffic of more than 94,000 equivalent vehicles per day.
The roadway receives nighttime maintenance heading towards the Capital as part of the plan approved by Artesp.
These works are strategic for preserving the road network and preventing premature deterioration.
Traffic in the region includes around 15% of heavy vehicles, which cause greater wear on the asphalt.
Ecovias Recommendations to Drivers
The concessionaire warns drivers to:
- Reduce speed in work areas.
- Be attentive to signage and worker movement.
- Plan routes in advance and use official channels to check traffic conditions.
Information can be obtained by phone/WhatsApp at 0800 777 0070 and through the company’s social media channels.
Avoid peak hours, especially between 6 AM and 9 AM and from 5 PM to 8 PM.
Alternative Routes Help Avoid Congestion
The Presidente Dutra Highway (BR-116) is an option for drivers looking to avoid the SP-070 Corridor.
Another possibility is to advance or delay the trip due to the works.
In urban sections, consider using public transport to reduce pressure on the highways.
Concession Provides for Continuous Investments
The concession signed in 2009 with Ecovias Leste Paulista lasts until 2039.
Since then, the corridor has undergone expansions, modernization of signage, and installation of User Assistance Systems (SAUs).
Lack of maintenance compromises road safety and increases the risk of accidents. Improvements ensure the integrity of the road and the flow of cargo and tourism.
This corridor is essential for the state’s economy, connecting industrial and tourism hubs.
