Clean Energy Production Chain Project in Birigui Brings Together Business Leaders, Institutions, and Government to Transform the Local Economy with a Focus on Innovation and Sustainability
The city of Birigui has taken an important step towards sustainability. Last Monday (6), the process of formalization of the Local Production Chain (LPC) of Clean and Renewable Energy began. The project is led by the Commercial and Industrial Association of Birigui (ACIB), in partnership with the City Hall and the Municipal Secretary of Economic Development.
The meeting that marked the beginning of the action was held at the ACIB headquarters. It gathered business leaders from the sector, technical and higher education institutions, fostering entities, and regional leaders.
This initiative is part of the SP Produz program by the State Government and aims to transform the local economy. The proposal focuses on innovation, the generation of qualified jobs, and attracting sustainable investments.

China occupies the desert with a 2 GW solar power plant in Inner Mongolia, installs elevated panels that create shade and humidity over the sand, and transforms a 2.96 billion kWh per year farm into an unexpected weapon against desertification.

Saudi Arabia is building in Oxagon a US$ 8.4 billion mega green hydrogen plant with 4 GW of solar and wind energy, 5.6 million solar panels, and capacity to produce 600 tons per day, transforming the desert into one of the planet’s largest clean fuel factories.

Germany and Denmark will transform Bornholm into a Baltic power island, connecting 3 GW of offshore wind power to the grids of the two countries via submarine cables and turning a real island into an international energy hub.

Brazil discovers natural hydrogen in four states and enters the silent race that could redraw the energy transition: Petrobras has already invested R$ 20 million in studies.
In addition to stimulating the economy, the LPC also seeks to contribute to global goals for addressing climate change. The decarbonization of the energy matrix is one of the main focuses of the proposal.
Technical Support and Local Partnerships Strengthen the Project
The official formalization still depends on the publication of a state edital. However, the process has been underway for months, with negotiations led by ACIB.
The entity has the technical support of institutions such as Fateb, Etec, IFSP, Senai, Sesi, Sesc, and Sebrae. These partnerships help create a solid knowledge base for the development of the production chain.
Silvia Boccia, from GreenYellow Brazil — a company that operates a solar plant in Birigui — highlighted the importance of the project: “This movement is essential to increase investments in clean sources in the interior of São Paulo. Birigui has the vocation and capacity to lead this process,” she said.
Productive Sector Demonstrates Support and Optimism
Local business leaders also expressed enthusiasm for the initiative. Luiz Antônio dos Santos Pinto, from Solis Solar Heater, stated that cooperation is essential: “Synergy is essential to pave the way for sustainable growth of the local energy sector.”
Eliel Robson, from ITB Electrical Equipment, emphasized: “The energy transition is irreversible. Seeing the municipality positioning itself as a protagonist strengthens everything we have already practiced at ITB.”
Productive Tradition and New Paths
Birigui is already home to the LPC of Children’s Footwear, managed by Sinbi. Now, with a focus on clean energy, the municipality expands its actions in strategic sectors. The next step will be to submit the proposal to the state edital to obtain resources and formal recognition.
