Boom Supersonic’s Airplane Can Fly At Twice The Speed Of Existing Jets In The Market
Capable of carrying 65 to 88 passengers, the supersonic airplane can fly using 100% sustainable aviation fuel and at twice the speed of the fastest passenger jets currently available.
According to Boom Supersonic’s Founder and CEO, Blake Scholl, selecting the site for the production of the sustainable airplane is an important step towards providing sustainable supersonic air travel for airlines and passengers. With some of the brightest and best talent in aviation in the country, Boom Supersonic is hopeful that Greensboro will emerge as the world’s leading supersonic manufacturing hub.

Shotcrete replaces manual plastering, can double or even triple productivity on site, and delivers more uniform walls; this industrialized technique has been gaining ground precisely where there is a lack of skilled labor.
North Carolina provides the company with a necessary location for its production facilities due to its aerospace workforce, which includes a large number of U.S. military veterans. The state also offers good access to technical schools, providing Boom Supersonic with a steady stream of qualified labor.
Factory For The Production Of The Sustainable Airplane Will Cover 37,000 M²
The Piedmont Triad area is close to several top-tier aerospace suppliers, benefiting the company as a springboard for the production of supersonic airplanes. Additionally, the location facilitates supersonic flight tests over the Atlantic Ocean.
The company’s corporate headquarters remains near Denver, Colorado, and Boom Supersonic’s factory will occupy approximately 400,000 square feet (equivalent to 37,000 m²) and will be built on a 263,000 m² site at Piedmont Triad Airport.
With the production of its sustainable airplane, the company will create more than 1,750 jobs for North Carolina by 2030, expanding to a total of 2,400 by 2032. State economists estimate that the new factory will boost the economy by at least US$ 32.3 billion over 20 years.
Boom Supersonic Promises To Create Many Internship Opportunities
To advance the next generation of professionals in the industry, the company will also generate 200 internships over the next decade for students attending universities, technical schools, or community colleges in the state.
According to North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, it is poetic and logical that the company chose the state where it was the first to fly for its first supersonic airplane factory.
The company plans to open the factory later this year and will begin production within two years. The first Overture aircraft is scheduled to be launched in mid-2025, flying by 2026, and carrying its first passengers by 2029.
