Bracell Is Making Billion-Dollar Investments in Its New Factory Located in SP. The Investment in the Pulp Factory Promises to Generate More Than 2,000 Job Opportunities.
Bracell, the largest and most sustainable producer of dissolving pulp in the world, held on Thursday (20) the ceremony for the start of the civil works of its new tissue paper factory, which will be the largest in Latin America and will bring thousands of job opportunities to the population. Present at the event were Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), governor of the state of São Paulo, and other authorities from his delegation.
New Pulp Factory in SP Has R$ 2.5 Billion in Investments
The unit is being developed next to Bracell’s pulp factory in Lençóis Paulista (SP). In total, the company is making investments of R$ 5 billion in the city, with half of this amount going towards the construction of the new tissue paper factory, which is expected to generate more than 2,000 new jobs, with operations slated to begin in 2024, and the other half of the amount for investment in a production plant for sodium chlorate and hydrogen peroxide, chemical components used in the pulp production process.
Praveen Singhavi, the company’s president, alongside the director of the Tissue business unit, Eduardo M. Aron, celebrated with the governor and guests the commencement of the new operation, which will generate numerous job opportunities.

2,000 Job Opportunities Will Be Generated During the Project’s Construction Phase


For Aron, the expectation is that the industrial symbiosis will be part not only of the economic activity but also of Bracell’s efforts for the well-being of the community and the environment. The director states that the exchange of raw materials, water, and energy will reduce the impacts resulting from its industrial activity, as well as operational costs.
The new factory will feature four machines for tissue production, which will be converted into paper towels and toilet paper.
With an annual production capacity of 240,000 tons, the unit will be one of the most modern and sustainable in the world, fully automated and the only one in the country operating completely free of fossil fuels.
During the construction phase of the project, more than 2,000 jobs are expected to be generated, and for operations, there will be 550 permanent jobs. The focus of hiring is in the interior of São Paulo, the region where the company operates.
Government of SP Speaks Out About Bracell’s New Pulp Factory
During the visit, the governor of SP was able to learn about Bracell’s pulp operation, which over the past four years represented an investment of more than R$ 15 billion in the country. Considered the largest and most sustainable in the world, the factory has two flexible lines that produce both kraft pulp and dissolving pulp. Additionally, its operation is free of fossil fuels.
At the event, Tarcísio emphasized the importance of investments like Bracell’s for the development of the state. His mission is to create a favorable ecosystem for significant investments like this to stimulate the growth of the state. Tarcísio highlights that he takes pride in having one of the largest and most sustainable pulp factories in the world, establishing leadership in the sector for SP.
