Henan Province Proposal Provides for Fixed Event in Zhengzhou, Strengthening the Brazilian Beef Seal and Expanding the Role of National Agribusiness
First of all, a strategic initiative can redefine Brazilian beef exports. In October 2025, the government of the Henan Province in China invited Brazil to hold the Brazilian Beef Summit annually for five years. Thus, Zhengzhou would consolidate itself as a logistical hub and, therefore, a gateway for imported products.
Moreover, Roberto Perosa, president of ABIEC, announced to CNN Brazil that the invitation “represents a decisive advance to diversify markets and strengthen trade relations.” Thus, according to him, local authorities proposed a cooperation agreement to institutionalize the event, which would, in turn, broaden predictability and continuous presence.
Beef and Road Reinforces the Image of Quality and Sustainability of Brazilian Beef
Above all, the proposal aligns with Beef and Road, in partnership with ApexBrasil and the federal government. Consequently, the initiative seeks to consolidate the Brazilian Beef seal as a reference of quality, technology, and sustainability. Furthermore, in 2025, 30 Brazilian companies participated in meetings with over 50 Chinese importers. Meanwhile, a dinner combined premium cuts with traditional dishes, thus strengthening commercial exchange.

More than 3,900 Brazilian municipalities are unable to pay their own bills, and yet two city halls located just 700 meters apart continue to operate separately, each with a full structure.
According to Perosa, the outcome was “extremely positive.” Thus, companies expanded buyers and even capillarity in the Asian market, involving large distributors and also small importers.
Rising Exports Confirm Brazilian Leadership in the Chinese Market
Between January and September 2025, Brazil exported 1.15 million tons to China, generating US$ 6.06 billion. Therefore, according to ABIEC, there was a 38.7% increase in volume and 75.8% in value compared to 2024. Thus, the numbers demonstrate the growing strength of exports and, still, the continuous interest of the Chinese market.
Moreover, Henan Dingshenghe International Trade Co. supports institutionalization. Thus, Zhengzhou could become a fixed center for promotion and business of Brazilian beef. Meanwhile, Perosa stated that the ABIEC board will assess the commercial viability; however, he expressed optimism regarding the impact.
Chinese Importers Reinforce Confidence in Brazilian Beef
For his part, Kelvin Hu, CEO of MJ Group, highlighted the “rapid transformation” of the local market and, consequently, space for added value. “Since 2018, we maintain around 300 containers per month, totaling 4 thousand per year,” he stated to CNN International in October 2025. Additionally, he mentioned the purchase of front cuts, hind cuts, and beef muscle, emphasizing great expectations regarding Brazil.
At the same time, eating habits are evolving rapidly. Therefore, the demand for premium cuts and grain-fed beef is growing. Thus, according to Hu, Brazilian protein is indispensable and should even reach new segments and more Chinese tables.
Bilateral Cooperation Drives Agribusiness and Innovation
However, Chinese domestic production remains limited. Therefore, cooperation with Brazil is essential to balance supply and demand. According to Hu, the herd is still insufficient and, thus, the local industry lacks scale and technology comparable to the Brazilian ones.
Finally, the continuity of the Brazilian Beef Summit in Zhengzhou could bring producers and consumers closer, expanding trust and access. Consequently, for ABIEC, the partnership with Henan symbolizes a historic milestone in economic diplomacy, opening agreements, investments, and commercial expansion in a highly competitive market.
In summary, with impressive results and ambitious goals, the event is likely to consolidate itself as a global platform for business and innovation in national agribusiness.
And, will Brazil then transform its beef into a consistent symbol of economic power and agro-export leadership?
