Supercar price, V8 engine, and millionaire project place the Scania S770 among the most desired trucks in the country, combining extreme power, long wait, national manufacturing, and versions transformed into luxury homes on wheels.

The Scania S770 V8 occupies the top among the most powerful trucks manufactured in Brazil by combining a supercar price, eight-cylinder V diesel engine, and uncommon numbers even in heavy transport.

With 770 hp and 3,700 Nm of torque, the tractor unit produced in São Bernardo do Campo, in the ABC region of São Paulo, costs from R$ 1.35 million to R$ 1.6 million and attracts independent truckers, small transporters, and fleet owners.

Scania S770 V8 delivers extreme power for severe operations

Behind the performance is the V8 engine, an architecture where the cylinders are divided into two inclined banks, a solution used to gather more cylinders in less space and prioritize power in heavy applications.

This configuration meets operations that require higher average speed, transport of large volumes, and consistent responses in difficult stretches, especially when the truck needs to maintain productivity without sacrificing high torque.

In Brazil, Scania offers V8 diesel engines in versions of 620 hp and 770 hp, with configurations 4×2, 6×2, and 6×4, which broadens the application of the set in different road transport profiles.

Among the package items are reinforced 12-speed automated transmission, the unique visual identity of the V8 models, customizations, and features like automatic headlight washers, elements that reinforce the truck’s exclusive character.

Tradition of V8 engines began in Sweden in 1969

The trajectory of the brand’s V8s began in 1969, in Sweden, when Scania launched a family of engines with 11 liters and 350 hp, the basis of a reputation that spanned decades in heavy transport.

Over the years, the characteristic roar and distinctive performance transformed these models into objects of desire in the sector, with the nickname “King of the Road” associated with power, tradition, and professional status.

In the competition between Swedish manufacturers, Volvo maintained a significant lead for years with the FH16 with 750 hp, until it was surpassed by Scania’s 770 hp in the power race.

Outside Brazil, the global leadership shifted to the Chinese Shacman, which offers a truck with a six-cylinder engine and 840 hp, raising this race to an even higher level.

National production has Swedish-origin engine and wait time of up to 120 days

Despite international advancements, the S770 holds symbolic weight in Brazil for combining national manufacturing, a Swedish-origin engine, and a waiting list that can reach 90 to 120 days after ordering.

“All production is Brazilian and requires special details, but the S770 has a Swedish heart and its imported heart extends the waiting period,” says Gustavo Cecchetto, Scania’s sales manager for transport solutions.

According to the executive, it is “a unique product that stirs the customer’s passion”, an uncommon feature in a market where truck purchases are usually driven by operational calculations.

This appeal helps explain the presence of the model in fleets for severe operations, image projects, commemorative editions, and orders made by buyers who see the V8 as a symbol of achievement.

Millionaire motorhome uses Scania V8 as a base on wheels

Among the most striking cases is Arlemar Transportes, from Rio Grande do Sul, which transformed a Scania V8 into a motorhome valued at over R$ 3 million, made from an extended tractor unit.

Customized by Vegini, in Santa Catarina, the vehicle is 13.5 meters long and reaches 45 m² of usable area when the expandable sides are open, creating a high-standard home on wheels.

Inside, the structure includes two bedrooms, one of which is a suite, bathroom, six TVs, an external 75-inch screen, three air conditioners, electric oven, microwave, wine cellar, fireplace, and JBL sound systems.

To extend travel autonomy, the motorhome uses a diesel generator and a 1,000-liter water tank, as well as an external kitchen with stove, hood, duplex refrigerator, freezer, washer and dryer, beer cooler, and draft beer dispenser.

The entrance door features an electronic lock and internal latch, while the security set includes a factory anti-theft system, rearview camera, side cameras for maneuvers, and a tracker.

Extreme power still holds appeal among transporters

Even in a time of pressure for energy efficiency and decarbonization, Scania maintains that models like the S770 V8 remain relevant by serving specific customers and preserving an important legacy in heavy transport.

Cecchetto states that the brand is selling more and more V8 trucks and that the model has become a symbol of the heavy industry, even in consortium actions that reward customers with units of the truck.

With 770 hp, a price that can exceed R$ 1.6 million, and versions capable of becoming luxury homes, is the Scania S770 V8 still a work tool or has it already become a collector’s item on Brazilian roads?
