Focusing on Global Employability, Online English Courses Range from Beginner to Advanced, Offer Certification and Also Include Live Classes
Applications are open for 10,000 scholarships for online English courses offered by the British Council in partnership with Santander Universities. The classes are free, last 8 weeks, and provide an internationally recognized certificate. Candidates from Brazil and 13 other countries have until April 21 to apply.
Mastering English may not open all doors, but it certainly unlocks many of them. With this premise, the British Council and Santander Universities have launched a robust language training program. There are 10,000 full scholarships for online English courses, organized by proficiency levels and providing access to live classes, interactive resources, and certificate at the end. The program runs from May 26 to July 20, with spots available for residents of 14 countries, including Brazil.
Online English Courses for All Levels, with International Certification
The courses are divided into five levels: Beginner A1, Beginner A2, Intermediate B1, Intermediate B2, and Advanced C1. Each candidate can apply for only one level and will receive, at the end, an internationally recognized certificate. All content is 100% online, with activities available 24 hours a day and flexibility for participants to organize according to their routine.

Live Classes for Reinforcement of Grammar and Pronunciation
In addition to the regular modules, students will also have access to the so-called Live25, four online sessions conducted by British Council teachers. These classes aim to reinforce grammar and pronunciation, essential elements for those wishing to communicate clearly in professional and academic contexts.
Phase 2 Offers Extra Opportunity for Those Who Stand Out
The initiative goes beyond the basics. The 1,500 students with the best performance in the first stage will be invited to Phase 2, a new 20-week study round, with 18 synchronous classes with live teachers. This second stage ensures a deeper dive into the language, focusing on conversation, technical vocabulary, and real fluency building.
Free Online English Courses for Brazilians and 13 Other Countries
The scholarships are aimed at individuals over 18 years old residing in one of the 14 participating countries: Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Uruguay, Poland, Portugal, the United States, and Ireland. It is not necessary to be a Santander Bank customer or have ties to educational institutions.
How the Scholarship Selection Process Works
After registering, candidates will need to take a skills test. The exam does not assess English but evaluates general skills, such as logical reasoning and problem-solving. The test can be taken in the mother tongue and is decisive in the selection process. The 10,000 candidates with the best performance will be chosen, provided they meet all requirements.
To apply, it is necessary to access the Santander Open Academy platform, fill in the details, and take the test that will be sent via email. The final deadline for registration is April 21, but given the volume of applicants, it is recommended not to wait until the last minute.
