The Cheapest Electric Car In Brazil Delivers 400 Km Of Range With A Single Charge
The Dolphin is BYD’s simplest electric car and still features a 12.8-inch multimedia center and front parking sensors. The battery of the cheapest electric car in Brazil promises about 400 km of range and fast charging, driving the wheels with 96 horsepower and 18.3 kgfm of instant torque.
In terms of technology, the multinational BYD equipped the hatchback with automatic braking, hill start assist, and seatbelt tensioners. All of this comes at a price lower than the Kwid E-Tech, which was the cheapest electric car in Brazil.

Chile inaugurates the first electric highway for the trucks that drive its economy, installs high-power chargers over 400 km, and aims to reduce diesel dependency in a logistical shift to Puerto Montt by 2030.
Gradually, the electric vehicle market in the country is receiving less expensive models, and BYD enters this idea with its entry-level model abroad, which is still far from becoming popular here. The compact is named so to follow the theme of marine references, as in translation to Portuguese it would be known as dolphin.
Inside, the model’s design is more than reinforced, following the same line presented in the electric vehicle sold above it, the Yan Plus. This means there are lighter colors below the dashboard line that resemble sand, while above in gentle curves, the shade darkens, creating a wave-like sensation.
The Cheapest Electric Car In Brazil Debuts With Blade Battery
Looking at the car itself, the BYD Dolphin delivers traditional points for the Chinese brand. This includes a wider steering wheel, a multimedia center that can stand upright or lie down with its 12.8 inches. The instrument panel is small, like in the Yan Plus, and resembles electric vehicles from Volkswagen, displaying 5 inches with only the basics and offering virtually no customization.
In the national market, the cheap electric car comes in a single version with a 44.9 kWh blade-style battery. It tends to deliver a lower energy density, however, it is safer in case of an accident with the car.
The manufacturer’s promise is a range of about 400 km on a single charge. To charge the batteries, the model has an inverter of 6.6 kW, which could be larger. With fast chargers, up to 60 kW, the model goes from 30% to 80% of the battery charged again in just 25 minutes, which would be enough to add 200 km of range.
BYD Model May Enter The Market Below R$ 149 Thousand
As it is not a car focused on speed, the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 7 seconds, and the cheap electric car reaches up to 160 km/h on the speedometer.
The electric motor delivers 95 horsepower and torque marked at 18.3 kgfm. This is enough to provide a great experience in the city and comfort for trips. The BYD Dolphin will arrive in the Brazilian market in the coming weeks with a suggested price of R$ 149,800.
Thus, it comes in just below the R$ 149,999 of the Kwid E-Tech and Cherry iCar, which were the cheapest electric cars in the country.
