The hybrid BYD Seal is about to reach the Brazilian market and promises to be a sales leader. The model has 1.300 km of autonomy and excellent performance.
The plug-in hybrid BYD Seal has just been registered in Brazil. Available in two powertrain options, the sedan stands out for its extensive range in combined mode of up to 1.300 km and electric range of up to 200 km on one charge. Launched in September, the BYD Seal DM-i PHEV priced between 166.800 and 236.800 yuan, the equivalent of $ 117.500 and $ 166.800 in a direct conversion, respectively.

In total, there are six trim options and two powertrain options on the Chinese market. Right away, it is notable that there is a lot of difference between the BYD Seal Hybrid and the fully electric one, except for the design of the front grille.

The new model measures 4,98 meters long, is 1,89 meters wide (15 mm wider), 1,49 meters high (35 mm) and has a wheelbase of 2,90 meters. Another highlight of the BYD Seal are the finishing details with a look that imitates wood, such as the center console and door panels. The dashboard follows the standard of the electric version, with a head-up display and a two-spoke steering wheel with a flat base, however there is a new DiLink 5.0 operating system that is supported by Qualcomm 7325 chips.
BYD Seal Hybrid can deliver up to 214 horsepower
In terms of powertrain, the BYD Seal hybrid is powered by BYD's DM-i technology and Blade battery. 1.5 engine with 81 kW (108 horsepower) and 135 Nm associated with a 145 kW electric unit, equivalent to 194 horsepower and 325 Nm of torque.
The 1.5 turbo engine with 102 kW (136 horsepower) and 231 Nm associated with an electric unit with 160 kW (214 horsepower) and 325 Nm of torque. The first can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8,2 seconds, has an NEDC electric range of 121 km and a combined range of 1.200 km. The turbo version can go from 0 to 100 km in 7,9 seconds, with an electric range of 200 km and 1.300 km, respectively.
In terms of charging, detailed specifications were not disclosed, however BYD talks about recharging from 30% to 80% in just 19 minutes for the model with the larger battery. Although registration alone is not a guarantee of launch, the automaker is working to bring more hybrid models to the Brazilian market. This includes the Seal PHEV, which could face competitively priced sedans like the Honda Civic hybrid.
