The Digital Transformation Arrives at the Interior of Cars with the New Nissan Kicks 2026, Which Completely Innovates the Traditional Gearshift, Switching to Electronic Controls That Promise to Revolutionize Driving Experience and Design of the Compact SUV in Brazil.

The Nissan Kicks 2026, expected to hit the Brazilian market in mid this year, surprises by replacing the traditional gear lever with buttons for gear selection.

According to leaked official images, the new generation of the SUV bets on an innovative interior design, maintaining the digital instrument cluster integrated with the multimedia center.

This change reflects a growing trend in the automotive sector, which prioritizes ergonomics and modernity in the internal environment of vehicles.

The revealed photos anticipate what Nissan has in store for the national model, which has few differences compared to the Mexican version, especially in the central console, where the buttons for gear shifting are located.

According to the website Autos Segredos, which previewed the information in February 2025, the replacement of the lever with electronic controls marks a significant evolution in the design of the Kicks.

Confirmed Versions and Equipment

The Nissan Kicks 2026 will continue to be sold in Brazil in five main versions: Sense, Advance, Advance Plus (as an optional package), Exclusive, and Platinum.

This organization was announced in April 2025, with details about the standard items for each configuration, which include everything from advanced technological systems to comfort enhancements.

The entry-level version, Sense, already brings a series of important features for the segment.

Among them, an instrument cluster with a 7-inch color screen, complemented by a monochrome display for essential information such as the speedometer.

Additionally, the multimedia center boasts a generous 12.3 inches, accompanied by a keyless entry with push-button start and an electronic parking brake with Auto Hold function, which facilitates driving during stops.

The button shift appears here for the first time, along with power windows and mirrors on all four doors, fabric seats with a split and folding rear backrest, as well as multiple USB ports for passenger convenience.

The air conditioning is digital and automatic, and the steering wheel features controls for audio, voice, phone, and cruise control, enhancing the connected and safe driving experience.

The Advance version adds comfort and style features, such as a wireless charger for smartphones, silver internal door handles, and upholstery with three-dimensional patterns on the seats and panels.

The Advance Plus package, which serves as an option for the Advance model, elevates refinement by including leather upholstery, a rear armrest, bronze accents on the dashboard, and contrasting stitching that enhances the finish.

Among the more sophisticated versions, the Exclusive stands out by combining all previous items and adding a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an electrochromatic internal mirror that reduces glare, a sound system with front tweeters, and stitching details on the sides of the console.

The model also features a 12.3-inch digital display for the instrument cluster, reinforcing its technological appeal.

The top-of-the-line Platinum goes further, bringing a panoramic sunroof with electric operation and blinds, a Bose Personal Plus sound system with speakers in the front headrests, and a touchscreen display for controlling the single-zone digital air conditioning.

Another highlight is the blue button on the steering wheel, which activates driving assistance features, enhancing the driver’s safety and comfort.

Engine and Performance

The engine of the Nissan Kicks 2026 will maintain the 1.0 HR10 engine, shared with the Renault Kardian, however, according to experts, the power and torque numbers are not expected to be identical to the French model.

In the Kardian version, the engine delivers 125 hp at 5,000 rpm and 22.4 kgfm of torque at 2,250 rpm with ethanol, as well as 120 hp and 20.4 kgfm with gasoline.

The transmission will be the efficient DCT dual-clutch system with six gears, providing quick shifts and better fuel economy.

Dimensions and Colors

The Nissan Kicks 2026 maintains dimensions that favor interior space and drivability: 4.36 meters in length, 2.09 meters in width, 1.62 meters in height, and a wheelbase of 2.65 meters.

This configuration reinforces its competitive position in the compact SUV segment, which is one of the most sought after in Brazil.

Regarding available colors, the model will bring traditional and sophisticated options: Diamond White, Graphite Gray, Classic Silver (except for the Platinum version), Premium Black, Malbec Red (except for the Exclusive version), and Ocean Blue, exclusive to the Exclusive and Platinum versions.

Additionally, the top versions offer two-tone paint options, combining colors like Diamond White, Graphite Gray, and Malbec Red with a black roof, giving a modern and personalized appearance.

Trends in Automotive Design

The adoption of button shift in the Nissan Kicks 2026 follows a global trend that eliminates traditional mechanical components to make way for more compact and functional electronic systems.

This choice allows for more space in the center console, improves ergonomics, and creates a cleaner and more futuristic interior environment.

Brands like Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, and even Toyota itself have been adopting similar solutions, confirming the industry’s direction towards the digitalization of controls.

In addition to the gearshift, the Nissan Kicks 2026 brings a series of technological and comfort innovations that promise to please Brazilian consumers, who value modern equipment and efficiency.

According to industry experts, the compact SUV market is expected to continue growing, and models like the new Kicks, which combine style, technology, and performance, will play a key role in Nissan maintaining its competitiveness.
