China Leads Again When It Comes To Electromobility And This Time Introduces A Low-Cost Electric Truck Capable Of Carrying Up To 2 Tons.
While the American automotive market mainly focuses on luxury and larger cars and trucks, China is going in the opposite direction. In addition to ultra-compact small cars that are cheaper and lighter on the consumer’s wallet, another sector that is strengthening in the Asian giant is the low-cost electric trucks. A good example of this is the electric truck from Keyu Motors.
Low-Cost Electric Truck Can Transport Up To 2 Tons
A model developed by Keyu Motors catches attention with its attractive price and a trick up its sleeve, the addition of a second rear axle and two more wheels, which allows for the movement of heavier loads.
According to the supplier, the vehicle in question does not disappoint and can carry up to 2 tons, thus, it is 800 kg on the front axle and 1,200 kg on the rear axles.

With a 1.0 engine producing 75 hp and costing less than R$ 70,000, Fiat’s car returns to the podium as the cheapest in the country; a temporary promotion for the 2026 Like version reduces the price of the Fiat Mobi.

With a 293.5 cm³ engine and a range of up to 400 km with a 14.1-liter tank, the Honda CB 300F Twister 2026 has up to 24.7 hp, an initial price of R$ 25,150, and already exceeds R$ 29,000 in the Fipe Table.
Interestingly, the milestone is more than double that achieved by the electric pickup Ford F-150 Lightning, which has a maximum transport capacity of up to 907 kg. To manage such weight on board, the Chinese electric truck with 4×6 drive features 4 kW motors.
The vehicle’s power is not exactly its strong suit. Thus, like the Chinese micro cars, the low-cost electric truck only reaches a maximum speed of 45 km/h.
In China, the truck is being offered at an almost unbeatable starting price of US$ 4,200, just over R$ 21 thousand at the current exchange rate. The big question for the vehicle is the import fees for the model to other countries, which may require a larger investment for end-of-line costs.
Manufacturer Of The Low-Cost Electric Truck Already Operates In Brazil
The good news is that Keyu already has official representatives in Brazil. For now, the low-cost electric truck, with a capacity for 800 kg of cargo and 110 km of autonomy, is the only battery-powered truck officially available here.
The pickup was developed to be used in agribusiness, forest reserves, resorts, industries, and large closed areas, and does not require a national driver’s license for operation, reaching speeds of up to 50 km/h. It is important to note that the low-cost electric truck cannot legally circulate on the streets. The starting price reported until the end of 2021 was approximately R$ 70 thousand.
The electric model is appealing at first glance; however, its small size may be misleading, as it gets the job done when it comes to work, being able to be used for heavier services such as in construction sites and in agribusiness, as mentioned earlier, as well as contributing to the security of condominiums and resorts.
Interior Of The Electric Truck From Keyu Motors
The model is not off-road, but it has entry and exit angles of 55º and 35º respectively. The ground clearance is 15 cm. To withstand the bumps of unpaved places, the vehicle features spring beam suspension at the rear and front with parallel leaf springs, also utilizing shock absorbers on the front wheels.
Although simple, the electric vehicle has some interesting equipment for a work vehicle. There is a digital instrument panel, USB ports, a speaker, and a 7-inch central screen, which controls some functions of the pickup and displays the image from the rear camera.
Its main competitors are golf carts, which are less versatile and have limited carrying capacity. The manufacturer also highlights the low corrective or preventive maintenance of the pickup, thus not offering a maintenance plan. However, there is a distribution center with a stock of parts to serve customers in case any eventuality occurs.
