Ford Plans to Resume Production of Its Popular Cars in Brazil, Indicating a Possible Return of the Ford Ka, Fiesta, and Focus.
Currently, it is quite common to find popular cars like the Ford Ka, Fiesta, and Focus on the streets, regardless of their generation. This popularity is due to the fact that they are timeless vehicles, known for their reliable engines, affordable maintenance, and, when well cared for, present few problems. These characteristics make them durable choices for drivers of different profiles. Acknowledging this ongoing popularity, the CEO of Ford expressed interest in relaunching these models in the market, aiming to revitalize the brand’s presence and continue to meet the demand for affordable and efficient cars.
American Automaker Plans the Return of the Ford KA, Fiesta, and Focus?
Since leaving Brazil, it has become very difficult to find a good Ford car, first by buying it used, especially among these three options, and then finding good parts if repairs are necessary. However, good news may bring these popular cars back to the streets of Brazil.
According to information from Portal Auto+, the Ford KA retired in 2021, the Fusion “bit the dust” in 2022, and last year it was the Fiesta’s turn, while the Focus has already filed its INSS assistance claim. It seemed that the brand’s future would consist solely of SUVs, pickups, and the Mustang. However, this reality may change.

In an interview, the head of Ford in Europe, Martin Sander, stated that the brand is definitely considering returning to making popular cars that are not SUVs and pickups.
When asked if Ford would bring back cars like the Ford KA, Fiesta, and Focus, the executive said: “I believe so.” Adding to his remarks, Martin noted values that have made the brand successful in recent years, such as solid quality and strong cost-effectiveness.
This is the core fundamental value of Ford globally. The executive also highlighted that Ford will not return to the volume race just to achieve a certain number or be in every segment.
Ford May Return with Popular Cars, But in Electric Version
Therefore, even if Ford decides to reintroduce popular models like the Ka, Fiesta, and Focus, it is crucial that these cars focus on profitable segments aligned with the brand’s strategy.
The popularity of electric compact models, such as the BYD Dolphin in Europe, may have inspired Ford to consider developing an electric compact using Volkswagen’s platform. This collaboration with the German brand reflects a strategic adaptation to the growing electric vehicle market, aiming to combine efficiency with technological innovation.
The mention of the German brand is due to the fact that Ford and Volkswagen have an agreement for joint model development.
The new Ranger and Amarok were developed together, while the new Explorer EV is nothing more than an ID.4 with an oval logo and a different look. There will also be the Capri, a Ford coupe SUV based on the ID.5, which is the ID.4 coupe.
Ford Retracts on Some Decisions
After closing factories worldwide, leaving some markets, and even giving up several segments, the brand is retracting on some decisions. Proof of this is that the company is considering the return of the Ford Ka, Fiesta, and Focus in Europe. However, it is now preparing to return to India after abandoning it in 2021.
Together with the closure of factories in Brazil during the pandemic, Ford India completely shut down operations there. This was a different strategy than in our country, where the brand reduced the number of dealerships but began operating as an importer. Currently, it is actually making much more profit than before and has returned to expanding its network.
However, now Ford wants to return to the Indian market, but with a more modest operation than before. Instead of fighting for mass market and volume, as it did before when making the Ka and EcoSport locally, the brand will focus on its biggest star: the Ranger.
