After ending its production and leaving Brazil, Ford will have to compensate workers fired in SP. The Bahia factory is still in negotiations
Last Tuesday, (06/04), Ford closed an agreement with the union on compensation to be paid to workers dismissed due to the closure of its engine and transmission factory in Taubaté, in the interior of São Paulo. In January of this year, the company announced its departure from the country and stopped all vehicle manufacturing in Brazil. In addition to the legal severance pay, the multinational Ford will pay between one and two wages per year worked at the factory – depending on the employee's category (hourly or monthly) -, with a guaranteed minimum payment of R$ 130 in compensation per employee. The most advantageous condition for the worker will be valid.
In addition, terminated employees will be included in a qualification program to return to the job market.
Negotiation between the automaker and the SP union had 25 rounds
The result of 25 rounds of negotiations between Ford and the local union, the agreement also provides for investments by the automaker in a training program for terminated employees, with a view to relocating them to the job market. The contribution will be R$ 700 per hourly worker effectively dismissed.
According to information from the local union, the vote held at the factory had a close approval of the agreement: 55,3% of employees were in favor. Approximately 800 people work at the Ford factory in Taubaté.
According to the unit's closure schedule, the vehicle factory will continue to produce parts for the aftermarket until April 16. By the end of July, all equipment will be turned off.
In a move contrary to Ford and Chevrolet, the multinational auto parts manufacturer Bosch decided to bring its US production to Brazil
The German multinational auto parts manufacturer Bosch was against the movement of car manufacturers Ford, Chevrolet, Honda, Audi, (Volkswagen), Scania, Volvo and Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and Renault that decided to withdraw or reduce production in Brazil, and brought to Brazil the production of injectors and injector nozzles for trucks that were produced in their factories in the United States, thus expanding the diesel injection systems division at its plant in Curitiba.
Furthermore, the intention of the German multinational is to supply not only the domestic market, but also export a large amount – which can reach up to half of production.
