New Intelligent Fuel Pump That Prevents Fraud at Gas Stations Has Just Arrived in Brazil and Promises to Help Drivers and Inspectors.
Dover Fueling Solutions has launched its latest technological innovation in the national market. It is the intelligent fuel pump that prevents fuel fraud. The innovative pump is already present at a Shell gas station in the city of São João do Meriti, located in Rio de Janeiro.
Fraud-Preventing Fuel Pump Features Bluetooth Connectivity
In accordance with the new Technical Metrological Regulation (RTM) established by Ordinance Inmetro 227/22, the pump features digital signatures, a measure aimed at preventing frauds, such as the well-known “short pump,” where the device delivers less fuel than what is displayed on the screen.
The new intelligent fuel pump generates encrypted digital signatures, so each time the pump is used, a unique encrypted digital signature is generated, ensuring the authenticity of the transactions.

The new equipment also provides easy access via mobile devices and through Bluetooth connection, allowing all relevant data for consumers and inspectors to be quickly and easily accessed on a mobile device.
The fraud-free fuel pump allows for more accurate data, such as the precise amount of fuel dispensed, avoiding measurement errors. The new technology allows consulting the complete history of maintenance performed on the pump, helping verify its condition and reliability.
With the advanced functionality of the intelligent fuel pump, measurements become more transparent and reliable, providing additional security for both consumers and inspectors.
Dover Fueling Solutions Comments on the Arrival of the New Fuel Pump
According to the General Director of Dover Fueling Solutions for Latin America, Stelmo Carneiro, the focus of the new regulation is to ensure the safety of liquid fuel measuring pumps, aimed at preventing fraud and increasing the reliability of measurements. It is worth noting that only Dover Fueling Solutions currently offers fuel pumps compliant with the RTM established by Inmetro.
In addition to the Helix line, the company also offers the Global brand, which provides devices with differentiated capacities and technologies, such as greater operational autonomy, for example. With the arrival of the fraud-free fuel pump in the Brazilian market, the expectation is that more advanced technology equipment will be installed at gas stations throughout Brazil in the near future.
How to Identify Frauds at Gas Stations?
Although the intelligent fuel pump has arrived in Brazil, it may take some time until it is available nationwide; therefore, it is essential to know how to protect oneself from fraud and adulteration.
The Legal Fuel Institute (ICL) has listed the most common frauds that drivers are subjected to, including the fraudulent pump, watered-down or adulterated fuel, rogue gas stations, and excessive alcohol in gasoline.
The fraudulent pump occurs when the amount of fuel displayed is greater than the amount that actually reaches the tank. This way, the consumer receives less than what they paid for. In the case of adulterated or watered-down fuel, fuels are mixed with other chemical substances.
ICL warns that this can harm the car’s engine, and depending on the added substance, the effects may also harm the driver’s health, given that they will have to inhale that toxic product. As for excessive alcohol in gasoline, it translates into a loss of energy efficiency, meaning fewer kilometers driven per liter.
