Currently, the used Chevrolet Prisma is an excellent option for an economic flex sedan, even surpassing newer models in the automotive market. The 1.0 engine with 80 hp and the 1.4 engine with 106 hp perform well and have good fuel consumption. The most sought-after version of the economic flex sedan in the automotive market is the LT 1.4, which features dark taillights, headlights with a black mask, and 15-inch steel wheels. However, it is important to be cautious, as in the first models, air conditioning was optional.

The MyLink multimedia system with a 7-inch touchscreen was also optional on the LT, but standard on the LTZ. It is user-friendly and incorporates radio, Bluetooth, and audio playback.

Being the most expensive in the automotive market, the LTZ adds air conditioning, 15-inch alloy wheels, electric rear windows, MyLink, fog lights, electric mirrors, and a trip computer. The biggest novelty of the used Chevrolet Prisma from 2016 was the six-speed automatic transmission.

What to Analyze When Buying a Used Chevrolet Prisma?

If you want to buy an economic flex sedan like the Chevrolet Prisma, it’s important to pay attention to some aspects. Check the power steering, as fluid leaks can occur due to failures in the steering box seals, a problem that is easy to fix. Despite the hydraulic actuation, the clutch pedal may become stiff due to premature wear of the actuator, which costs about R$ 280.

The six-speed automatic transmission, known for its reliability, can experience issues due to misuse or neglect, such as low fluid levels. The repair, performed only by specialists, rarely costs less than R$ 6 thousand.

Additionally, it’s essential to check for recalls when buying your used Chevrolet Prisma. There are five important recalls for this generation: failure of the nut securing the fuel pump (2013 and 2014 models), manufacturing issues with the fuel filter (2014 and 2015 line), defect in the welding of the brake pedal support (2013), insufficient locking of the left rear seatbelt (2015 and 2016), and short circuit in the fuse box (2017 to 2019).

On OLX, there are several models available starting at R$ 40 thousand.

The Experience of Enjoying a Used Chevrolet Prisma in 2024

According to Ivan Grego Lemos, 21, overall, the engine and gearbox of the 1.0 Prisma is a well-matched set, not suffering as much as other 1.0 engines even with air conditioning due to the good gearing of the transmission.

The economic flex sedan positively surprises in this regard; it is a stable car, considering that you shouldn’t take curves too hard.

According to Ivan Grego Lemos, who uses it partly on the highway and partly in the city for about 34 km, the model has a consumption of 13.5 km/l on gasoline, always with the air conditioning on.

The Prisma has good internal space for its category and accommodates front passengers well without compromising the comfort of rear passengers. The model is excellent and holds its own against its rivals in the automotive market.
