China unveils the Tianyan-504, the world's most powerful quantum computer. Discover how this groundbreaking innovation could transform the future of technology.

China has reached a new milestone in quantum computing with the development of Tianyan-504, the world's most powerful 504-qubit quantum computer. China's quantum computer was developed through collaboration between the Center of Excellence for Quantum Information and Quantum Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and QuantumCTek and China Telecom Quantum Group (CTQG), a quantum technology company based in Anhui province.

How does China's quantum computer – Tianyan-504 work?

The world's most powerful quantum computer will be embedded into the Tianyan quantum computing cloud platform, providing global access to users. Wang Zhen, deputy general manager of China Telecom Quantum Group, said the company plans to collaborate with QuantumCTek to advance a quantum computer using the new chip, enabling researchers in various fields to work more efficiently and accelerating the practical use of quantum computing.

The Tianyan cloud quantum computing platform, launched in November 2023, has received over 12 million visits from over 50 countries, providing affordable quantum computing services to users around the world. In addition, China has made progress in quantum computing with the development of a 504-qubit superconducting chip, called Xiaohong, delivered to QuantumCTek.

The measurement and control system, along with the quantum computing chip, are central to the performance of China's quantum computer. According to Liang Futian, an associate professor at the Center of Excellence for Quantum Information and Quantum Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, their effectiveness significantly influences the overall capabilities of the world's most powerful quantum computer.

Understand the main objective of Tianyan-504

China's quantum computer chip is expected to match the performance of major international cloud-based quantum computing platforms such as IBM, in terms of qubit lifetime, gate fidelity and quantum circuit depth.

This collaboration between Chinese companies will provide global users with access to the China Telecom Quantum group's quantum computing cloud platform, enabling researchers from various fields to efficiently work on practical problems and algorithms.

However, Gong Ming, a researcher at the center, noted that the main focus of the world's most powerful quantum computer is to advance the development of large-scale quantum computing measurement and control systems, rather than just achieving greater computing power or quantum supremacy.

Understand the advantages of Tianyan-504 for China

Furthermore, China is believed to be the only country to achieve quantum computing advantage through photonics and superconducting quantum computing technologies. This milestone was achieved with the development of Jiuzhang 2.0 and Zuchongzhi 2.1, each of which features 113 detected photons and 66 qubits.

Last month, a supercomputer developed by the Chinese military, Tianhe, once again ranked first in an international test of AI computing efficiency, marking a second victory since 2021.

China's quantum computer has also played a key role in the center's significant achievements in research areas such as numerical simulation technology, materials computing and environmental meteorology.

It is important to mention that Bigtech Google also recently announced its quantum chip called Willow, which promises to revolutionize the segment, offering superior performance to the Sycamore processor, launched in 2019. The new component is also capable of easily outperforming today's fastest supercomputers.

Super incredible, we will still see many technological advances in less than 20 years, humanity's biggest problems will soon have a solution.

You are blind and foolish, hahaha, do you think that what is being done is to improve human beings?

Without a doubt, another tool for scientific research... But I don't see this as a solution to humanity's problems, which today are more of a social nature...

I don't think it is possible to solve humanity's problems no matter how advanced technology becomes. For example, in wars, technology has only made the act of killing more efficient. Regarding hunger, even with surplus production in some parts of the world, other regions continue to face deaths from starvation, just as they did in the Middle Ages.

It's there for those who know that the Chinese have an ancient culture and that Uncle Sam's bootlickers are jealous.
