US Secret Service agent was prevented from entering the Temple of Heaven armed in Beijing during Trump’s visit to China, causing delay, intense discussion between authorities of both countries, and a new impasse with the press.
A United States Secret Service agent was prevented by Chinese authorities from entering the Temple of Heaven complex in Beijing armed, causing an impasse of almost half an hour during Trump’s state visit to China.
The incident occurred on the first full day of the trip, while Trump was attending engagements alongside Chinese President Xi Jinping. The visit includes talks on trade disputes, Taiwan, and the Iran war, with cabinet secretaries and CEOs.
The American president had left the first round of negotiations in unusual silence before heading to the 15th-century temple with Xi. The incident was reported by members of the press accompanying Trump during the movement.

Secret Service was barred for carrying a weapon
The impasse began when Chinese security refused entry to a Secret Service agent accompanying the reporters because he was carrying a weapon. The situation delayed the group’s entry into the complex for almost half an hour.
The report was released by the White House Press Pool Reports on X and described by AFP correspondent Danny Kemp as a long and intense discussion between American and Chinese authorities. Later, an agreement was reached, without explanation of the terms.
When Trump arrived at the Temple of Heaven with Xi, a reporter asked how the negotiations had been. The president responded briefly, saying it was “great,” called the place “incredible,” and stated that China was beautiful.
Press also reported new delay
Later, Kemp reported that the press was gathering in the temple complex while American and Chinese authorities kept the group in a side room. The discussion was whether the reporters could move.
Another report, published at 1:41 PM China time, informed that Trump was leaving the Temple of Heaven while the press remained held after a new delay. American officials and reporters had another animated discussion with Chinese authorities.
According to the publication, Chinese authorities tried several times to prevent the group from leaving and joining the presidential motorcade. The episode increased the tension surrounding the coverage of the visit to the site.
Security was reinforced in Beijing
Major security measures were implemented during Trump’s stay in Beijing. Roads and public parks were closed, and about 30 flights in and out of Beijing Capital International Airport were canceled on Wednesday night.
The flights were suspended between 6 PM and 9 PM, while Trump landed at 7:50 PM local time. The White House was sought for comment on the Secret Service incident, but the material does not report a response.
Following the recent attempt on Trump’s life at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, all employees of the Four Seasons Hotel, where the president is staying, registered identities with the authorities.
In addition to the mobilization of armed police, protected tents and barricades were installed at the hotel used by Trump. Hotels near the US embassy, includin
