Hyundai has just announced its new electric car, Ioniq 6, which promises to be a worthy competitor to the Tesla Model 3. Vehicle delivers 580 km of autonomy and futuristic design.

Hyundai presented its electric sedan called Ioniq 6, which will be able to compete side by side with the Tesla Model 3, an electric car that was awarded as World Car of the Year. The South Korean brand model has an art deco style and a striking look, however its great advantage is to offer a driving experience surprisingly similar to combustion models.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 is revealed with a range of almost 600 km per charge

While the Tesla bet on the production of fast, stylish and interesting electric cars, such as the Tesla Model 3, Hyundai chose to develop a vehicle that looks like an ordinary car, but is powered by electricity.

With an initial value of around US$ 40, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 has a range of up to 580 km and has fast charging capabilities. The model has a futuristic look reminiscent of a science fiction movie, however, its handling is very similar to that of a gasoline car. This can be a great differential for those looking for an electric car without too many extravagances.

The model hits the market for compete directly with the Tesla Model 3, and seems to be ready to face this challenge. With the high demand for electric models, the South Korean automaker bets on a model that has style, practicality and technology.

The sedan is built on the same electric platform as the Hyundai Motor Group which also powers other high-performance electric models such as the Genesis GV60, Kia EV6 GT and Hyundai Ioniq 5.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 has several versions

The Tesla Model 3 competitor has a 77,4 kWh battery and is being marketed in rear-wheel drive or dual-motor all-wheel drive options. The model has the greatest autonomy of the E-GMP platform.

The Ioniq 6 SE rear-wheel drive version offers an EPA-estimated range of 580 km, surpassing the Tesla vehicle. The all-wheel drive version has a range of 508 km. The SEL and Limited versions of the Hyundai Ioniq have more luxury features, however this reduces the range to 490 km and 434 km with all-wheel drive.

A base version of the SE version of the electric car with a 53 kWh battery will be launched between June and September, in the American summer, with 149 horsepower and a range that can reach up to 386 km.

The decision to launch an electric sedan is a welcome change, given that most automakers are launching electric SUVs. Smaller, lower and lighter cars have better performance and range compared to larger ones. The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is a great option for those looking to switch to an electric vehicle without sacrificing performance and size.

The Ioniq 6's design is based on classic streamliners from the 30s and features better aerodynamics than the Ioniq 5, with a drag coefficient of 0,22 to maximize range. The front bumper features active air flaps that close to reduce air resistance and open to maximize cooling.

The electric car boasts over 700 pixels in its appearance and its design has received mixed reviews, with some praising the look and others criticizing the appearance of the front end and its trunk capacity.
