With 50 MP, 5,000 mAh Battery, and Price of R$ 1,399, the Galaxy M17 5G Promises to Challenge Redmi Note 13, Moto G85, and Realme 12x in the Mid-Range Market.
Samsung reinforces its line of affordable mid-range devices with the launch of the Galaxy M17 5G, a model that bets on a balance of performance, energy efficiency, and competitive price. Officially presented in India in September 2025, the device comes with updated hardware, premium design, and camera features that were previously restricted to flagship models, opening space to compete directly with Redmi Note 13, Motorola G85, and Realme 12x — three of the most popular models in the global segment.
Although the initial launch took place in the Indian market, the Galaxy M17 5G has drawn attention in Brazil for its price equivalent to about R$ 1,399, considering the direct currency conversion and the average cost of the device of US$ 260. At this price point, the model positions itself as one of the most affordable 5G smartphones with modern specifications, promising to be an enticing option if Samsung decides to officially bring it to the country.
Minimalist Design and Solid Build
The Galaxy M17 5G maintains the characteristic visual identity of the M line but adopts a more refined finish, with straight edges and a matte back that reduces fingerprint marks.

The body is made of reinforced polycarbonate and weighs just 188 grams, while the thickness is 8.2 mm — a balance of lightness and durability.
The display is one of the highlights of the device: a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED panel, with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits, offering smoothness in gaming and excellent visibility outdoors. This is one of the biggest improvements compared to the M15, which had only 90 Hz and lower brightness.
Efficient Performance with Exynos 1330
Under the hood, the M17 5G includes the Exynos 1330 processor, manufactured by Samsung itself at a 5nm process, the same used in models like the Galaxy A15 5G. The chip delivers a performance boost of up to 20% compared to its predecessor and offers full support for 5G SA/NSA networks.
Paired with 6 GB or 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage, the device runs Android 14 with One UI 6.1, and is already confirmed to receive three years of system updates and four years of security updates, a differentiating factor in its price range.
50 MP Camera with Optical Stabilization
The camera system of the Galaxy M17 5G is led by a 50-megapixel main sensor with optical stabilization (OIS), a rare feature in models below R$ 1,500. It is accompanied by an 8 MP ultrawide lens and a 2 MP macro sensor.
The new image processing with AI Scene Optimization automatically identifies the type of scene — portrait, landscape, night — and adjusts exposure, contrast, and saturation in real time. On the front, there is a 13 MP camera, positioned in a teardrop-shaped cutout, with support for 1080p video at 60 fps.
Long-Lasting Battery and Fast Charging
Battery life is another strong point. The Galaxy M17 5G features a 5,000 mAh battery that, according to Samsung, offers up to two days of moderate use.
The 25 W fast charging ensures a full charge in just over an hour. Even with its slim body, the device retains a USB-C 2.0 port, 3.5mm headphone jack, and stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.
Direct Competition and Outlook for Brazil
With this set, the Galaxy M17 5G goes head-to-head with the top mid-range devices of the moment: the Redmi Note 13 5G, which offers a similar camera but a smaller battery; the Motorola Moto G85, which relies on the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and a curved display; and the Realme 12x, which focuses on ultra-fast charging at 67 W.
In emerging markets, Samsung positions the M line as the most balanced in terms of cost-benefit. In Brazil, although there is still no official confirmation, analysts expect the M17 5G to arrive in 2026, gradually replacing the M15 5G.
Expectations are that the model will maintain its aggressive pricing, becoming one of the most affordable options among 5G smartphones with AMOLED display and stabilized camera — a combination that makes it especially competitive for consumers seeking performance, battery life, and photographic quality without paying a premium.
